OSPx - Client mod

Postby 'L0, » Thu Apr 10, 2014 7:45 pm

For years I've been tackling an idea to create a open source clone of the OSP mod so it can be enhanced but mostly to solve the antilag crap. I kept delaying it due lack of time, will or whatever.. Finally after all those years I decided to sacrifice a week or two to get it done.

While that project is not really the main reason why I'm posting this, it's does play a part in it. Before I go into full blown mod frenzy I decided to address the client logic only so it can be used on server side mods only. It's basically just a simple light version of OSP client only mod with few extra enhancements. Pack is just under 900kb so it's quite small and relatively fast to download by clients. Any server owner can put this on if they wish to allow some OSP alike features on their server. This is a agnostic client only mod, so it will work on any server-only mod like main, shrub, bani etc..

I didn't play ET much so I dunno if default antilag is even good or is it the same crap as rtcw default? I know etPro customized it along with hitboxes but that's closed sourced for most of the part.

NQ, etPub etc did modified it somewhat afaik. Although it's not really a problem. I can port one from wolfX since it's almost a clean cut dump. Was antilag fine there for you or..?

Hmmm is this meant to work on shrub servers? Where should I put it in order to work (tried putting it in Main and shrub folder and it didn't work) ?

It's meant to work on any server-side only mods as it doesn't touch nor alter anything regarding client-server interaction. In essence, it's pure client mod, mainly meant to introduce some of the sane functionality to server-side only mods. Best bet is to put it in your main folder. That way any modded server running it will simply replicate the file without forcing you to download it. Although, this only works on servers that have it on and are set to pure.

P.S. I edited first post so it's up with latest version..currently it's at v0.2.2 which is so far stable (it's on xMod UK server) and has pretty much all the bugs fixed with exception of two..there's no more plans to push this any further after those two minor hiccups get fixed..but that may take a while as I'm low on time.
