My first PC, accually belonged to my dad, was a Commodore 02/86 with 8MB RAM and 40Mb HD (Doublespace made it around 75Mb).

MS-DOS 6.0 was installed (still have the 3.5" Floppies) and also MS Windows 3.11 :D

Played games like Wolfenstein 3D, Bluesbrothers, Commander Keen 1 -> 6, even a Apache heli 3D sim (forgot the name).

First PC I bought myself was a Intel PIII 450MHz. It is still in service as a Win2K Advanced server for routing internet, MSN and BFRM 2.0 Beta :P

PRESS RECORD AND PLAY ON TAPE

:D

Hey, I have a C64 emulator for the PC. Works quite well. Lots of games have been transferred. There's even a diagram for interfacing the 1541 disk drive with a PC.

Macintosh SE30 at work. Macintosh IIcx at home. My first PC came later and was a pentiumII 233 with a BX chipset mobo and a Diamond Monster 3D card. I can vividly remember my awe at playing DescentII in 3D for the first time on my rockin 112k ISDN line.

Yadad, you may just have some very collectible items.
if i was you i would hang on to them, you never know
what may turn into a rare item some day. (i gave all my
old stuff away, no room for all of it)

not gonna put it on eBay yet...

do 5.25 floppys ever go bad?

zork 1 loaded just fine!!!

Sad thing is software has very little collectable value now, and probably won't ever(until it's really, REALLY old).

The software itself may have nostalgic value, but it's encased in a cheap, throwaway media. And most items that have collectable value usually display such value not long after they appear. Look at DVD's, some hard to find "older" titles already go for over $100, and DVD's themselve are less than a decade old. Software has been around 30+ years and has yet to show any collectable value.

"do 5.25 floppys ever go bad?"

yes i think so, the magnetism can leak or bleed making
the disk hard or impossible to read. i heard its best not
to store the disks stacked one against each other. (causes
the bleeding to happen quicker)
one source of information:

http://www.clir.org/pubs/archives/ensuring.pdf

in that article they say 5-10 years for magnetic disks, but
your disks are all ready older than that.

i remember Zork :) some tough puzzles :) walk North :)
