i think Sony's offering all their online MP games at a bundled price of 21.99 (or something close to it)
which would include Planetside, EQ, EQ2 and SW:G
didn't beta test, and I need an upgrade to play but I'll probably play both PS and SWG for a few months
when i can afford it

Galaxies uses a brand new engine developed by Verant/Lucasarts. Morrowind uses the NetImmerse engine. It was supposed to be the "be-all-end-all" of engines, but it hasn't quite taken off. I think there's only 4 or 5 games that use it so far, with maybe another 4 on the way.
I've heard though that Galaxies isn't really ready to be released, to the point where the lead developer seems to echo these sentiments. Seems the execs at Sony and Lucasarts just want the title on the shelves as quickly as possible. Given Verant's track record, I'm sure it'll be playable and any nagging bugs will be ironed out eventually, but it would seem that such a high profile title would be given enough time to mature. Galaxies could be the BIGGEST MMORPG ever, better to have it work nearly flawlessly right out of the box so as not to alienate the hardcore fanboys who so easily shift loyalties. as well as the newbies who'll become frustrated with a deficient game.
For me though, I'm waiting for "Knights of The Old Republic". Bioware has always turned out great stuff, and I'm chomping at the bit for another game from them.

It's a very nice game. Picked it up today. Been playing for 6 hours.

In my opinion the game did come along way (I started in beta 2) both in structure and graphics. It's a very purty' game but at the end of the beta it still seemed very lacking in focus. I mean yeah you can get missions etc but there wasn't really a strong story line in yet or enough missions that did much from "go destroy this" or "deliver this". Maybe if I hadn't played the beta for 7 months I wouldn't feel that way, but like Bingham said, the game really wasn't ready to be released. It's not broken, it's just not finished.
