As much as I hate to narrow it down to these two, there should be little argument that these two hold the most powerful positions on the planet. So who is it?

In the US, it would be Bush, in other parts of the world, people would think the pope.

Much of North America is not as religeous as the rest of the world. Almost EVERYONE I know in Canada my age (19) have no relegion.

I think Bush is more powerful, allthough I would like to see that otherwise! Not that I vote for terrorist actions or so, but sometimes I wonder where it will go with all of us, if ppl like bush think they can (and need to) rule the world. As soon as you don't agree, he will use some of his tricks to make you listen and agree!!! (by tricks I mean economics and army)

I'm sure the vast majority of the world has never even heard of whoever is the most powerful person. With the amount of shit that goes on these days, a secret "world government" is becoming less an idea of fantasy every day.

And all we need is that guy at the top to snap and we've got our first bonafide Evil Genius, ala Dr. Evil, Auric Goldfinger, or Bill Gates.

Bah, neither one of these guys can hold a candle (proportionately) to some of the most powerful people in history...

THE most powerful person in history IMO is Kublai Khan (a relative of Genghis). He controlled an empire that ranged from the himalayas to the arctic sea; from what is now the ukraine to east coast of China, and all parts between. In this area he could effect anything and anybody he wanted however he wanted. The buck stopped there.

Next in line would probably be Julius Caesar or Alexander the Great. No army on earth during their time could stand against them. Caesar fought outnumbered, outsupplied, without political help from his own country and still never lost a battle... most battles he simply DOMINATED whoever he fought, including other romans.

Alexander was the same way, he marched as far as his health let him... if he hadn't taken sick, he probably would have crossed the indus river and made his way clear to the mekong delta... hard to fathom how things would be different today if he had...
