man, if this was the only stuff we had to worry about, i'd be in hog heaven. first of all, taking music that you dont own form the internet IS illegal, no matter how you want to slice it. it IS piracy. just be glad you were able to get the music you wanted for free for so long. nothing lasts forever.

i personally am much more concerned about the US's state of affairs. bad economy, questionable wars, possible attacks, gun violence, shitty public education...stuff like that. eveything else is nothing in comparison. when the fuck is everyone gonna start looking at the real issues?

While that is true, the music industry said the same thing when cassettes were invented. Now everyone would be able to record all the music they wanted off the radio and the music industry would crumble from lack of income.

And we know how well that prediction worked out. It's the same thing now. People will still buy music because even in the days of Napster, downloading music was still too hard and confusing for the vast majority of music buyers. And even if mp3 downloads did make a dent in music sales, it only means the music industry will have to get by on 300 billion a year instead of 350 billion. I sure hope they can get by on their meager funds.

Kinda hard to sympathize with musicians who make more in a year than most of us will make in our lives.......

uh, this is a typical argument from people that are just pissed cause they can't get free music anymore.

some guy recording music from his radio onto cassette is much more different than some guy ripping his cd, and then allowing hundreds of thousands of people to download his ripped music. let's also mention that this "aquired" music sounds just as good as the original recording, compared with the poorer audio quality of radio recorded music.

Good point! I don't know what I'll do without free music. My library is already up to 6 mp3's, 4 of which are unpublished comedy recordings. Now that I can't get free music, I'll never break double-digits.

The same audio quality as the originals?!? You might need some new batteries in your hearing aid, pops.
