CALABASAS, CA (October 31st, 2003) - Entertainment software developer and publisher NovaLogic, Inc. announced today that they will shortly begin accepting applications for the closed pre-beta test for the forthcoming multiplayer modern combat game, Joint Operations™ - Typhoon Rising™.

The application process for gamers in North America & Canada is being hosted by GameSpot.com with sign-ups commencing on Monday Nov 3rd 2003 through their web site: http://www.gamespot.com.

The pre-beta test will give gamers a chance to be involved in part of the exciting development process for Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, the next big title to come from the creators of the #1 best selling PC game in North America, Delta Force - Black Hawk Down. The first test, a one level team-based multiplayer map playable over the NovaWorld game servers, is scheduled to begin in Mid-November 2003, with a number of different tests to follow over the coming months.

Not at gamespot yet, but should be later today. This looks to be a sleeper hit liek BF42 was.

thanks for posting this. Ill definitely be applying for beta on this one. Joint Ops looks like its going to be the team based fps to beat. I wonder how many applicants they are going to select.

I applied for painkiller beta testing, but it looks like they arent going to pick me. I hope this time I will be more fortunate.

I just signed up myself. It looks really interesting. It does look like it is very similar to BF1942 but with modern equipment and much better foliage. I always wanted to see someone pull off better foliage in BF - but I guess the way the engine is set up that it boggs down performance too much. Too bad, I really like the idea of using tall grass, trees, and bushes to hide and take cover.

I have high hopes for this. I didn't make the original BETA for BF, but did get in when they gave more slots out and had a time frame to submit(which kept getting delayed).

To me, BF was the first(massively successful) FPS game to take it up another notch by adding vehicles. It is, of course, the way that genre will progress.

I remember reading at IGN that there is a 128 player game comign out like this. Wish I could remember the name of it, as that is the next step: growing number of players.

A 128 player BF would be great on maps like this new Phillipines map - that is just SO big and so many flags to defend.

And doesn't everyone want to see a 128 players on Berlin? Just kidding.....

There she is, the 128 player game, with 24 sq. miles of terrain.

Soldner does not look very good graphically. I shudder at the lag that a 128 player server would produce.

Same was said for BF with 64 players and land/sea/air vehicles.

Any word on accepting applications yet?
