they should have made the Hobbit movie first. i never understood why they didn't.

The Lord of the Rings is a much more quality story. It's much deeper, and deals with bigger issues. The Hobbit was essentially designed to be a children's story. However, a very good one. Also, it seems tailor-made to be made into a movie, so it'll be nice because they probably won't change much.
