Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

The thread was closed before things went too far. Judging by your tone, HaVoc, and by Edog's, it would probably have gone too far. I also think it was a deliberate decision by both of you to turn the thread into a flame war. It was especially strange that you were all giving your opinions, then saying "let's close this thread" or "on that note I'm outa this one", then continuing posting.

The first electronic bulletin board system was invented about 25 years ago. Minutes later, it was discovered that starting a thread about god or religion is a Bad Idea. It has stayed consistently so ever since. Jeffro should have known better than to start that thread.

That said, I don't like it when Ryan closes threads BEFORE things get too far, especially in the off-topic forum. In this particular case, he was possibly right, although I'd be more comfortable about it if there was a "no religion" rule on the forums.

Interesting. Storytime :D. What happened?

I understand the reasoning. Isn't it ok to be unreasonable from time to time?

Also you state that we both drove the thread down. That's completely incorrect, and I will not be included in that at all. I made a general comment about religion. He made a derogatory comment about me. He made the conversation personal. At that point he revealed himelf.

You made a genreal TROLLING comment about religion... :)
Come on, you knew it would jump-start someone. You're no newbie. :)

Sat Dec 27, 2003 11:31 am

I don't consider the comment he made TROLLING. It happens to be a fact!

Edogg made the original TROLLING comment, about science.

One or the other, or both, doesn't matter. I'm sure both know what is trolling, and what's not.

Sat Dec 27, 2003 12:24 pm

Yeah, this is a bad topic... people are even more sensitive about religion than politics... and it has been argued over now for about 400 years or so with no clear-cut answer, so why should here be any different...

Sometimes threads should be closed :(

Sat Dec 27, 2003 12:51 pm

I agree the thread had to be closed. No question. The comment I stated might have been seen as trolling, but it was simply a thought. Prolly the reason why this should never be discussed. But I am a sucker for a good argument online... what can I say. Especially with closed minded people that like to make it personal.

What's wrong with a mess now and again? Why does everything have to be politically correct? He didn't appreciate my point of view? wooopidooo

I think everyone should be free to speak their mind and feelings. If we were not allowed to do that in the real world, it would sure be a boring place with everyone looking alike and thinking the same thing ;)

I'm really out of date. Man oh Man! I thought "trolling" was when you went out looking for the babes and was just sorta fishing for a strike or something. :P
