real life apache attack
1. Chacal - I just wish that this attitute was directed towards the terrorists, dictators and despots. People are quick to voice opinions about the "evil" US but are terribly silent about the real evil. cause - effect.
2. The Apache incident - Please, no one here OR at ABC can be ignorant enough to presume that we can draw conclusions on the incident based on a small piece of footage. In war, gas is a major commodity, and Apaches aren't flying around randomly looking for people standing outside of trucks. THere was a reason they were there, and we SHOULD NOT expect to be told all of the details. Like Fat Bastard said, peoples' lives are attached to that intelligence.
3. My opinion, if it wasn't for the US, everyone would have a Swastica as a national flag. And we were even LESS willing to police the world and protect the world then as we are now.

Well after reading the thread for a while I just wanted to make a few comments. First is that I support our soldiers 100% over there making the ultimate sacrifice for their loved ones and the country we all call home. No matter what actions politicians take, the soldiers take the full brunt and horror of what is called "war." They see the worst but also the best of humanity, but unfortunately we do not often see the great acts of our soldiers. Killing in any fashion is never something good, but sometimes it is necessary for the protection of others. These soldiers did not just happen upon these men in the desert and merely fired on a small suspicion; they had specific orders and intelligence from others. Killing the one man who was crawling on the road was the right thing to do in my opinion. Just pointing out that much worse has happened in war, and my grandfather experienced some of the most horrible violence in the Pacific Theater of World War 2. Many men were tortured, dismembered, and brutally killed by the Japanes, but unfortunately this happens on each side in war. Personally I think that war should never be the answer, but sometimes it is the only answer. The point is to end the violence as quick as possible to arrive at a peaceful ending. Always keep in mind that many men have sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we all take for granted and honor these men, no matter what.

You know, it pre-dates the nazis by a couple thousand years, too. The oldest known swastikas were found on stone carvings in Troy from way back when. Then, they were used for years by buddhists and native americans (kinda weird when you think about it, two civilizations completely isolated from one another), and were thought of as "good luck" up until the nazis used them (search for swastika on e-bay, and you'll see). No official record exists of who in the NSDAP decided to use the emblem either, though Hitler boasted that it was his idea.
An interesting piece of history.
