ECGN meet up POLL

Postby Xenius » Sun Feb 15, 2004 10:53 am

Ok guys. Those of us that were selected/volunteered for the committee have gotten together to figure out when this thing will go down.

We've selected the weekend of August the 13th through possibly that monday. This will be in Washington DC. Before planning goes any further we need to find out how many people are SERIOUSLY going to come.

Please do not thread hijack or spam, we're trying to get an actual count. This poll will run for a week, afterwards another poll will go up where we can decide what group activities should be done.

HT, Folic, and Bag, if I've forgotten something feel free to post and add it.

So, are we going to have an itinerary while we're there, or just kind of play it by ear?

We're thinking it'll go sorta like this. We will run the 2nd poll after getting a head count with a list of activities. The ones that come in with the most votes will be scheduled and we can do them as "group" activities. We will also leave empty blocks of time that people can go off on their own with. For example, half of us want to go to some museum while the other half want to go to a monument. During times where we haven't planned anything people can do as they wish. Evan, bring your friend along :)

LOL. Bring my friend along. She's not into the whole gaming scence Xenius, so I don't think that would be a good idea.

Some of the activities that have been thrown around:

1) Spy museum
2) Air & Space museum
3) DC monuments
4) PAINTBALL match
5) group dinner with awards (to be determined)(nothing extravagant)

We'd be interested in getting activity feedback in the next poll. Please don't flame the ones already mentioned. Obviously all of this is quite up-in-the-air at this point.

I'm going to attend regardless of the turn-out. We've got 4 rock-solid "yes' votes already and we'd love to see those of you that could drive there in a reasonable amount of time.

We realize that flying-in is probably a bit extravagant for most folks. We picked DC based upon the relative proximity to a great number of ECGNers. Obviously it wasn't picked based upon my location. :)

Also, if you've voted "YES, I'm coming", please add a reply to that effect or edit the reply you already have contributed.

Also, if you're coming, PM me and provide your e-mail address so we can start compiling a list.

Evan, our activities won't necessarily be 'game' related so bringing along a friend would work, in my opinion.

We've all spent so much time talking and typing to each other over the months, it just seems like it'd be cool to have an informal get-together. Think of it as a party.
