What are you using in your system?

Well first off....they give out MCSEs to 16 year olds now, they arent worth the paper they are printed on. Hell my little brother has one.
With my experience, someone with an MCSE doesnt even phase me, because i've seen people with them who dont know anything about anything, hence this topic.
Oh and yes yes, im jealous of your computer.
I have a P4 2.4 ghz OCed to 2.81 ghz
MSi g4 ti 4200 OCed to ti 4600
512 MB PC800 oced to pc1066
and its all watercooled, your machine is junk to mine
Comparing AMD to Intel is apples and oranges, but I can expect this from someone with an MCSE
I dont even know where to begin with this, maybe you should re-take your MCSE class...oh wait that still wouldnt help. The application still has to be written to look for the second CPU, the OS doesnt do anything. They have to both work in tandem.

So as you can see, if it was true that two pIII 1ghz cpu's were only capable of using 1.8ghz then how can they outperform 1 amd athalon xp 2400 by 10%.. if im not mistaken 10% of 1.96ghz is 0.196 or 196 mhz difference in (cpu speed).

Also tho it does matter if a game or application is specificly tailord to take advantage of dual performance in windows 2000 advanced server it automaticly distributes the load between both processors in fact when an applicaiton looks for the cpu speed to see what it's maximum usage can be windows 2000 advacned server tells the application it is a "2ghz" machine for the game to take advantage of it.

Get your MCSEs here! Step right up!
All this proves is that Certification doesn't mean squat.
This is a bad anaology, but if you put two engines in your car does it make it twice as fast?
Two 1GHz processors does not make your PC twice as fast. Why would I be jealous of a lousy 2GHz system, anyway? Aren't CPUs up to 2.8GHz now?
One of my machines is a dual 933MHz Pentium III running Windows 2000 Pro. I've benchmarked it using MadOnion's 3DMark2001SE and with both CPUs running (and the OS properly configured) my marks didn't double. I think I got maybe 100-200 points higher with both CPUs running (I believe iut supports dual CPU setups).
If anything, your blazingly fast SCSI drives contribute more to great performance than anything. Your PC can't do squat if your sub-system doesn't provide the data it needs fast enough.
Put a 2.8GHz CPU in some pig of a system, with a crappy hard drive, shit video card and a poorly configured Operating System and I'll show you a system with a much slower CPU and better supporting components that blows the doors off that crappy Mass Market PC.
The bottom line here is you're entitlted to be wrong...and using Windows 2000 Advanced Server as your game machine (blue screens and all) points to the fact that maybe you ought to reconsider all your "certifications". How can an "MCSE" have such bad grammar and spelling? Yoinks! I have a seperate PC for my server.
I learned years ago, that I'm never one to tell anyone they don't know shit. I let them prove that for themselves

40gb maxtor 7200 rpm hd
Sb live /w 4.1 surround sound speakers
comcast cable(1.5 mbs down/128 kbs up)
and yes...im still using windows 98 SE.
Only thing really bad here is your CPU and RAM. You could just buy a new mobo/CPU and memory and you would be all set.

Heh you can say what you want but i know what my system to do. so why don't i tell you how to run your bf1942 gaming server.. first off why don't you start out by opening up the settings folder in bf1942.
open the serversettings.con file in any text editor. you see the lines.
game.ServerBandwidthChokeLimit
set that to 250 it'll kick out anyone with a ping above 250, secondly you might want to make it so people have less lag too, so go ahead and set
game.ServerNameTagDistanceScope
to 200 instead of the default 300, this way players don't have to keep track of what they don't see.
oh yea almost forgot everyone is always complaining about evening the teams, so why don't you go ahead and enable
game.ServerAutoBalanceTeams
set that to 1.. unless you like leaving it like that so you can get on the wining team..
go ahead make the server faster for everyone and less of a hastle for the administrators.

Once again you know nothing of what you speak.
The server bandwidth choke limit doesnt even use numbers! It controls the size of the packets it sends out to clients, and even with different settings, doesnt have any effect, via my packet analyzer.
There is no setting to limit high pingers in BF1942, and that is straight from EA, as I have been working with them and testing out different settings for stability.
The tag distance setting, doesnt make a difference from 300 to 200.
The autobalanceteams feature for BF is shit. It moves people from one team to the other and is VERY annoying. I just balance them myself by kicking the team with more people on it.
When I ask my players to even the teams, they do, so I hardly have to kick anyone anyway.
Looks like that MCSE is doing you some good. Go back to school kid.

lmao i figured you would negate everything i said to you, oh well some people just have to say the opposite of others, but you keep telling yourself that none of those settings effect the server any, im sure you have "tried" them all already.. im sure you know how the bf1942 engine works too.. hell you should fix there shitty network code

- MMmmGood
I dont know anything about code, but I sure know a hell of a lot about networking.
Everything I said about the BF settings are true, just head over to http://www.bf42.com and go to their server administration section. Almost all of the admins who have servers post and share ideas/problems there.
On top of that, my server at 32 players uses the same amount of bandwidth it does at 54 players. Again, bad network code. Personally I dont care what you think since you havent experienced it first hand, rather from your side of things.
