Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

NEW YORK--March 1, 2004--Rockstar Games, the world-renowned
publishing division of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:
TTWO), is pleased to announce Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the next
iteration in the globally successful Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Developed by world-class designers Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto:
San Andreas will be available exclusively for the PlayStation(R)2
computer entertainment system and is expected to be in stores in North
America on October 19, 2004 and in Europe on October 22, 2004.

"In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of
pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed
people's expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," stated Sam
Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "Even though we still have eight
months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have
achieved and we can't wait to get the game into players' hands."

Wooo hoo!! Can't wait to see the news about someone suing Rockstar because of their kid holding up a bank or something.

It HAS to be because of the game!

Im not expecting anything great from this one. This will be the third gta game for the current generation of consoles. It became obvious that they have reached the graphical limits of current consoles with vice city. There was hardly any major differences between gta3 and VC. Same basic gameplay and same graphics.

We as pc gamers suffer from this. The gta games are designed with the console in mind and then converted to pc later. Thus we get the same consolish graphics and not so friendly controlls.

I agree edogg. I like it better on console. I would never get GTA for the PC. It was made for the console and that's where I'll play it. I don't see how much better this one will be from GTA:VC, when VC came out I was expecting much more than what was in GTA 3 and was let down a little bit by some of the things. When they release a GTA for the next Sony console system then the game will probably be the shit.

I'm not 100% sure about it but with Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City it was the case.

Your suspicions were well-founded:

San Andreas will be available exclusively for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system

you never know, maybe they'll port it to PC after a while, though it's doubtful. Ported to PC games are usually pretty crumy though. Silent Hill 3 was the only good one. Halo was an absolutely horrible port:mad:

I was so excited about that game, but it's just not a good one to play on PC.

I just picked up the GTA Double Pack two months ago. I liked Vice but it got kind of old. I messed around with GTA3. I'll probably go back to them during the summer and finish them before the San Andreas comes to Xbox.

You can actually play Grand Theft Auto online if you download a program called "Multi Theft Auto". Although last time I played it, it was very laggy and there were a lot of immature people. I think the URL is:
