Postby =4WaRNeD= » Sat Feb 01, 2003 8:52 pm

Hello fellow gamers!,
I was playing today and noticed that when I ran up to some players I would be pushed back . What's the command to have push and forward on all the time !
Thnx =4WaRNeD= :)

Yeah, I noticed that too.... I usually play a medic and on some people it was really hard to revive them because I kept getting pushed back. I had to jump on their heads so I could get the needle in.

Other times it's annoying when you get pushed forwards too. There have been many times when someone has pushed me into the barbwire on the beach, or a grenade or into the path of a flamer and it is so annoying.

The thing that is most annoying to me, which really has nothing to do with this thread, but I may as well mention it here as it has happened hundreds of times and is so frustrating.....A guy will call for a medic and just as you approach him, he decides to tap out into limbo and sometimes I end up getting killed for it, it really cheeses me off!

Best Regards,
Giggles.

......Oooh yeah, I forgot you asked for the command for pushing it is......

/ +salute

or to make it easier bind it to a key......

/bind ? +salute

where ? is any key of your choice.

On the subject of binds, I may aswell mention the command to get your sound back when it goes, as newcomers to the forum proabably won't know what it is........

/s_stop

you can bind it to a key also.
/bind ? s_stop

One final thing, The teams are even!!!!!!!!!!

hope that helps,

Best Regards,
Giggles.

Giggles, I totally agree about the medic thing. Especially the idiot Allies who tap out IN THE BASEMENT with medics nearby. It's difficult enough just to get down there. :D

Sometimes you have to have /+salute on constantly. I've noticed the reason I have to have it on constantly becoming more prevelant. People do not understand they cannot stand still. Either they are standing in the doorway of the bunker, standing in the middle of the trenches, standing on the stairs going up to the axis base, or standing on the backstairs. All of these locations block your teammates from moving. If you want to stand still, goto the beach and sit in the water. It has gotten me killed more times than I can count.

For instance, today I get to the top of the axis base and there is an enemy airstrike right up top about to go off. I run for the backstairs and there is an ally standing right in the doorway shooting at enemies across the screen. I got blown up and so did he because I could not get in. At that moment I turned on +salute permanently. I don't mind this once in a while but it seems to be the same people over and over.

everything aphid said is part of why i keep push on full time. Also because it helps me run the docs to the radio if i go short way. I dont know how many times ive pushed the axis guy thats blocking the doorway at the top of the stairs to win the game. In fact i did it earlier today.

at one point in time(very short time ago), i thought autopush was a very rude thing to do to your teammates...but i was robbed of many night time victories going short by some lazy axis punk. i also like how im able able to drag people, like it aint no thing. that has to be the biggest plus of it all the auto drag that comes with it. its harder to knife and poison...but hey, i cant have everything.

I still dislike auto push because I have push bound to a key that is easily accessible and muscle memorized, in otherwords if I need, a small flick of my finger and your pushed, no need to have it auto push. I've gotten killed so many times especially in the ducts because the moron behind me has auto push on and I can't back up, resulting in me getting blown to bits by that nade that just got chucked in the vents from below or that S.S. venom duct troll :D So you see, why have it on auto when its such a more useful and less harmful thing when you bind it.

I agree with you, Tool. Just bind push close and it's easy to get used to. Just spend some time pushing panzer-noobs out the forward bunker door and it'll become second nature.:lol:

i wonder how much all these two cents add up to...

ok guys, auto push.....sucks

a way BETTER and SAFER way is just to bind +salute to the F key. my fingers rest (when playing rtcw) on a,w,d,f,space bar, and on my other hand, mouse. if its on F, it will become a second nature. i think that is the best solution, since it wont get in the way of ur gameplay. now that that is out of the way, i want to explain about how i feel about auto push... it is worse than doorblocking itself. so, type this in ur console...

/bind f +salute

now, turn off auto push and let us do our job with taking on venoms in ducts, reviving u, and actually trying to play.

just my two cents

I also have it as a key bind, on 'g'. Just as good as having it on all the time, but I can choose when to use it, thus keeping my teammates from getting pissed at me :D

I can appreciate your humour Silver, but it aint funny when you are a medic and you are in the war room trying to revive your fallen teammates only to get a ticking off for not being able to do it fast enough.
It's a tough enough job as it is to revive when you have grenades, panzers, flamers and bullets shooting at you all at the same time, without the added difficulty of being "pushed" away from the people you are trying to revive.

So in that respect, I hate auto-push......

Giggles.
