Speaking of RAM, I checked in my computer and I have two 256 DDR ram sticks and they say something like PC3200... Do I just have to buy two more 256's or is it possible to just buy one 512?

You can buy one 512 Levar. Just make sure it is also PC3200

LeVar, you need to check out info for your motherboard
real closely. many MB can't handle, say 2 sticks of 256
and 1 stick of 512. according to your MB you might have
to buy 1 stick of 1 gig or 2 sticks of 512 in order to get
1 gig total ram.

I know with my mobo, it's faster to have 2 sticks of ram then just one because it supports dual channel or something so i have pc 2700 512MB, also they have to be put in the right slots to take advantage of this feature and you need to read your MOBO manual.

you're most likely running dual channel ram. (it's only slightly faster than single, not much of a difference when it comes to running todays' games)

if you want to keep dual channel, put a 256 in slot 1, 256 in slot 2, and 512 (which is the sum of the first two slots) in slot 3.

but no matter what, 1 gig of single channel is still faster than 512 of dual channel (when it comes to games like BF42/BFV, which uses over 512 megs causes your HD to thrash and gives you choppy gameplay), so you'll win either way

Jeffro, on average it's better to have 2x256 versus 1x512, since the 256 chips are usually a bit faster. However, 2x512 is obviously gonna be the best, due to the increased perf. offered by having 1gig. Your sig shows you have 1024 mem, how's that if you've only got 2x256 = 512?

Well..i have four slots and i am going to add 2x256 therefore i will have 4x256...which is a gig...

I assume that will be enough...

and about the sig...

I have no idea what you are talking about :roll: ;)

Jeffro = :tard:

rgr, 4x256 will probably be better than 2x512, although I really am not sure since I know little about Rambus (other than it sucks :P)
