what is with this server?

i really like this server! but i have to say that it is out of hand so often!

the teams are rarely if ever fair! i don't mean just equal amount of players i mean fair in abilities and ping! so often i come into a game where there are regulars vs. amatures/noobs/brave souls!
there is usually a huge difference between the teams! like there are lots with low pings and lots with high pings seperated on each team! or there are lots of amatures vs. lots of pro's!
i try and join the weaker team as much as i can but sometimes i don't as i see no point in playing when the teams are so obviously stacked!
i think this could be killing this server! new players to the server turn up seeing it is a large server with lots of players and they join and they end up screwed by a bunch of regulars who don't have the guts to make the teams a bit more fair! this probably turns away alot of new players that visit the server! and with wolf being a old game now there are not so many players out there aan there will be no community if we scare off any newcomers by obliterating them when they step threw the door!

i am talking to the regulars and the better players on the server to take into consideration that this is not a good thing for them to be doing! my opinion probably won't count for sh*t but hey who's does so if anyone else feels this is true then please make yourself heard!:help:

please can we all have a little courage to join the weaker team or change to a weaker team to make the game more fun for everyone! this is not directed at all the regs as i know alot of people who change sides to help out! thankyou if you bothered to read this!

here is a pic of what i am talking about! look at the gross diference in the pings! i just left as it was a slaughter... the game b4 half the team left too:

I agree with arjay in saying that uneven teams are a big problem on the server but I don't really see that there is a fix, perhaps a system of compulsory shuffling would help but it would probably just make the problem worse.

This uneveness is worth talking about though as it is really the root cause for the epidemic of snipers and venoms on the server which are the result of either wily regs taking advantage of the abundance of canon fodder noobs to kill, or desperate noobs doing anything they can to get some kills.

The problem is worse at the non peak times than at peak times so some of you may think that we are talking crap but this is something that crops up quite often for us players in the uk and the times we play.

The server still rocks though

The example posted by Arjay isn´t the best example, I´ve seen more stacked teams. I think that the ping players isn´t an excuse; I know players with ping 150 that owns and anothers with ping 30 that are only sniping in sniperhill (as Teabag said: what a waste of widthband).

Maybe we need a poll for if the server needs automatic shuffle. :freak:

not the best example i know but it was just what happened today!
the ping makes a difference for good players! if you play on a server where you get 20 ping and you are a good player you should play really well! but if you play on a sever where your ping is 150 your not going to have the same level of performance! i agree if someone is a noob with a ping of 20 against a good player with a ping of 200 the good player can still own the noobs as$!

but all i am saying is regulars should be on the lookout that the teams are not becoming too stacked! i agree with parrot that it is a reason there are more snipers and venoms! why is a inexperienced player gonna try and play against a regular with a mp40/tommy if he can hide on the beach with a mauser or can camp somewhere with a venom! the server is slowly becoming poluted IMO by teams of snipers and groups of venoms due to over stacked teams!

if the nooby players were playing against more of a mixed skill team they may actually try and use the mp40/tommy and gain some skill rather than noobing you, themselves and 3 teammates with whatever high power weapon they saw fit to use!

they may even try and learn how to play a class properly! like learn how to revive teammates rather than run past oblivious! :lol:

the noob revolution could be on its way! if you give them a chance!:rotflmao: don't think auto shuffle will work! it might just auto shuffle a worse scenario!
if it comes to it i may have to start a poll!:D

Just I think is more important teams even in number than in skill (or ping). Its annoying play with allies with 4 or 5 players less and no axis wants join us, but when allies win and teams exchange, those honorables players even teams at once. When is my team that have more players, I normally I join spectators and go to do some homeworks :roll:

If teams are unfair in abilities, I dont like when there are an axis beach invasion, and I´m the first in say "leave the poor guys a chance" or leave them the flag", cos I know they will disconnect; normally I join spectators, overcoat if wo0t spec too and can talk with him :lol:

You know!!! Regulars!!! ....

Cant really comment on "offpeak times" but as far as stackage it does happen, just be patient when it does, keep your head down and watch...that elite team slowly weakens and then you are on the "stacked" side.

War is hell especially when you are losing

I would say that about 90% of the time, one of the teams is stacked with skilled players. Its really stupid to me. I dont see how those players can feel good about themselves after they just steamrolled a bunch of newbies.
Normally, when I first join the server, I try to join the weaker team. Even though I know ahead of time what Im getting into, I still end up gettiing really frustrated with my teammates. Then I end up cussing a lot of them out:help: :rotflmao:

I dont know which is better, me trying to help the weaker team, or me not verbally abusing noobs.

I couldn't help myself from laughing at this post after reading it! With quotes such as "cannon fodder" and "axis beach invasion", brought back memories of people such as Ticks, Maynard, Killer/Nofx, and the likes.

That has happened to me waaaay too much when playin 3:00 am (midwest) and those dudes mow me down on the way to plant dyno!

Im not bitching, dont get me wrong, but if you love this game, you gotta get past it! I did. When I experience a "beach invasion" (LOL) i go noob snipe, or rack up revives or somethin. It is no fun spawning, run 10 steps on beach, get "raked by machine gun fire",(Slayer-Mandatory Suicide) then do it all over again!

Great points how that does make noob's snipe, panz, and venom the hell out of everybody (including teammates)! I just think that they will eventually come around because at least to me, that shit is NO fun. Some exceptions to sniping.

I dont really like shuffling teams personally, but wouldn't be against it if it helps this server!

P.S. Axis beach invasion is fun though when axis!!

Most off time when the team is stacked....its axis...
But actally than i like to go allies w/ hte noob team that way its more a challange 2 me

Curious, when I see nofx stats, he killed beowulf 328 vs 39 deads, but when i go to beowulf stats, he killed nofx 78 times, and nofx killed 656 times beowulf :eek:

lol edogg sounds like what i do! :lol:

i go over to help the crappy team and i get tk'd like 20 times! or blocked or bled to almost death! or they blow me up just as i am about to run docs in! when your not playing it sounds funny but in the game i get mad with some of the noobs i am trying to give a break to!:D

i hope you all didn't think i was bitching about this i just think the server would benefit from the teams being a bit more fair on a regular basis! they will never be 100% fair but then in theory no one would win if it was 100% fair and that would totally suck!:P

I always change to the weaker team and try to get other regs to change but it never works and i'm not very good so i cant make a difference.

Yea its funny, I noticed that too. I was thinking that it might have combined all the cd-keys with my name on it into one account. Thats the best explanation I got :X
