My Brother cannot get into server! wtf?

Postby Heart Collector » Thu Apr 29, 2004 12:03 pm

He just got the game, and he had trouble when he first loaded it getting into the server.

He updated his punkbuster and got in fine, but now is having the same problem, and even updating the PB is not helping.

He plays from a college dorm room if that helps you figure what the problem may be.

It just says invalid key or some shit like that.

Invalid key?

Doesn't that mean invalid cd key...

I had that, even with my original version of RtCW. He does have an original version, right?

I left for a day and it sorted itself out.

Might help to double, triple check the code you enter as your cd key.

Anyone else?

Most likely the university is blocking the port that RTCW uses to send the cd-key for validation to the PB main servers.

Tell him this...

Enter the CD Key
Return to Multiplayer screen and go to Single Player, when its done loading go back to Multiplayer. Doesn't make sense but it works for me.

You might want to contact EA, that sounds like it might be a bad CD key.

It happened to me.

When you see single player, multiplayer, options, etc. Go to options and find cd key under options and change the cd key that will be same as you inputed from back of the cd.

One of my friends has a copy of RTCW, I was thinking of maybe grabbing it and checking it out.

I'm gonna tell him to try inputing his cdkey again, and switching to single player, and back.

Hopefully it will work out .
