I think Bill Gates said it best in PC magazine.
"People attack windows for glory, no one attacks linux or mac for glory."
If Red Hat was a multibillion dollar copreration and Microsoft was the small upstart there would certainly be people out making virii for linux because they would get a kick out of it.
and O BTW winXP service pack 2 WILL have the microsoft firewall(basc firewall from XP renamed) on by default and will automaticly get all critical updates from the internet. Hopefully that will prevent some virus infections.

That's bullshit. I know real hackers (guys who code exploits and know what they're doing). In that community, attacking a Windoze computer would be considered a disgrace and no one would talk to you again. Getting root on openBSD, now THAT'S glory.
Windows firewall is laughable, and I certainly don't want critical updates downloaded automatically on my PC. Several updates had critical flaws in them, some crashed your PC and had to be recalled by Microsoft. Until it's been tested in a lab environment, I don,t put it in production.

A friend of mine works for a really big company, his whole job is to make sure software upgrades dont break anything. No changes allowed unless his team ok's it, which takes too much time to do for every individual patch. Blaming the users won't work...
Anyway, this kid definately deserves some grief, I don't know what kind, but major prison time seems overboard.
