American citizen beheaded in the name of Allah.....
I do not want to watch the video and still am ashamed that another human being could do this to someone else.
Sometimes being a part of the human race in inconceiveable to me when I hear of actions like this.
There is no doubt in mind that it is true, nor is it doubtful that Americans did things to them that make them feel that they have to react this way.
I am not condoning or accepting what was done, but at the same time, if it was Americans that were being humiliated, sexually assulted and tortured (like the images that the world has seen) then I am sure that people would want to react in a very violent way.
Just think if that was your son, daughter, father, mother, brother, sister that was being treated that way...
I really do wonder if there is hope for humanity sometimes...

Sorry guys, but a comment like Fatty's is not deserving of a civil response.
That's about as bad as the idiot from Massachusetts that wrote the article, saying that Pat Tillman got what he deserved.
Tommy,
I'm sorry man, but humiliation, or whatever else a few soldiers did, does not warrant what they did to an innocent american.
The Arab world said it themselves this morning. What those murderers did to him, will undermine their valid protest of what happened at that prison.

I have just watched the video at http://www.glennbeck.com It is a bit hard to find, but if you search you can find it. While being graphic, it is also very grainy and difficult to see what is happening... until the end.
I have also seen the photos of the Iraqi POW's and while I do not think American soldiers should treat POWs inhumanely, I do not see ANY comparrison between decapiation and humilation. I do not have a problem with humiliation (sexual perversion, yes... but not humilation or psychological pressure).
There is such a thing called BLUFFING where you PRETEND or THREATEN to hurt/torture/mutialte, but don't actually do it. Our soldiers were told to "soften up" the Iraqi POWs. Unfortunately they were not given training or proper direction. I don't agree with their methods, BUT no one was actually KILLED or TORTURED or MUTILATED!!! Publically humiliated... yes, but not much more than that.
And if you think this is about OIL.... When was the last time you checked the gas pumps??
I have a son (seven years old) and I cannot imagine him being beheaded! That poor guys father and mother...

He can post a link. Why not. Part of the thread. If your going to discuss it, might as well watch it. If you want.
My opinion is this. This is a big friggin mess. They may have done this anyway so to blame what happened in that prison is foolish. Hell we can say the prison photo's were revenge for the four poor souls who were blown apart in their car and then dragged around while they danced. Its always a tit for tat and always will be. Cause and effect. Or when 9-11 happened and they were doing their version of the Irish Jig in celebration.
I had a discussion with a buddy and I opened up a new POV on the prison mess. He said to me if it was myself and four or five of my buddies (he named some to me to set the example)I may have done the same thing at 19 years old. The prisoners who died is a separate discussion due to CIA involvement and such. But the pictures that I have seen were far less than sawing - say it slowly- sawing a head off a noncombatant. I live 20 minutes from West Chester and I guess I feel a little more sorry for this kid than you may do because he lived so close. Maybe that and he had nothing to do with the war. Just over there trying to find some work for cell antenna's.
Real crying shame right now with everything.
This is going to be our Vietnam people. No doubt about it.
Keep the thread open. But everyone should keep the heavy attack stuff to a PM.

Explaining something to me that I did wrong is one thing, but calling me an idiot?!?
Somebody else posted a link before I did.

Fair enough...
For the record, I agree with Irish.
They were going to kill that guy anyways, just because the US would not trade him for some prisoners.
The prison scandal merely justified it in their insane heads.

Kind of lost actually as to what to say really... Funny how things change so fast in a year... get rid of a dictator get repayed by having civilians of all people attacked, not soldiers... this dude was a guy working to help rebuild...
after seeing that shit, i say let the place go to waste... let the rabid dogs fight for their scraps of power... then when they have some sort of leadership, we do it all over again... and pile on.
humiliating soldiers and murdering civilians are two different things no matter how clouded your judgement is... whether its for "religion" or a government action. I use the word religion there loosely because every other religion i know of doesn't condone violent action against innocents... In the past 100 years or so i dont recall a bunch of Catholics going on some sort of holy war into Isreal so they can have some piece of Jersuselam.
However, our (americans) actions over there have been flawed from the get-go. we should never have gone over there in the first place... i say let the people rise up. If they were too stupid to or to afraid to rise up and take over then they deserved what they got. If you are 18 in the states i suggest you vote this year...before your buddy Bush Dicks you over and you get drafted for this shit.
Sorry for the length, guess i did find what i had to say... in a nutshell, that video was disturbing...something no one should ever have to experience... i'd rather be goomba'd.
Sludge

My ex-g/f's brother is a marine going over now... family went to cali to go visit him before he ships out in a few weeks... her little brother joined the marines too... I fear for both of them...

LOL...You think Bush is bad? If Kerry becomes president, we may as well get ready for the next 9/11, because all that will do is give them time to regroup
Like it or not, we need to be over there. Whether it's Afghanistan or Iraq,it's all tied to those fanatics that flew planes into our buildings, and killed 3000+innocent civilians.

I'm still waiting for a response as to how Iraq is tied to 9/11.
