American citizen beheaded in the name of Allah.....
Many of you are forgetting that all Muslims are not american torturing pigs! They aren't! All Muslims are not terrorists! All Muslim's are not suicide bombers!
The ones we are after are called terrorists for a reason, they will kill anyone to get their message across, even if it is a fellow Muslim. These are the people we are looking for. The people who will kill themselves in the name of God are the ones we are after. Not all or any one from the Muslim/Islamic religion/ethnicity are terrorists. I have a Muslim friend, he is not a terrorist and would never do anything to hurt an American, or any human being. A terrorist is one who puts terror into people, like putting terror into Daniel Pearl, or putting terror into the people of 9/11, or the spanish during the train bombing, and all suicide bombers. Terrorist- one who causes terror, or engages in acts of terrorism.
These people we are after have been under leadership of Saddam. Come on the guy tested out military/chemicals on his own people. He killed his own people. He made his people put a picture of him on the front page of the news paper every day with an article saying why he is so great.
We went over to disarm, kill/capture Saddam, find some weapons of mass destruction, maybe get some oil, rebuild a country and maybe make a new allie. Try and show them the good side of a Democracy then let them run the Government.
We can't just get up and leave because they are torturing our soldiers, our reporters, or anyone who is America, or any race/religion/nationality. We knew going into this thing that there would be deaths and complete chaos over there. It doesn't take a year to rebuild a country or whipe out terrorists, look at Osama he is still hiding in the mountains. Rebuilding takes more than a year. Although that would be nice it just doesn't work that way.
That would be great if we could leave now and say hey here is your country back. If we did that the terrorists/Saddam scum would take the country back over.
My brother is over there, along with many of his friends. It'd be great to end it now and call it quits, but thats not why we call ourselves Americans. We are Americans because we have pride and will finish this thing no matter what.
Can't wait to see who wins office, and what they do with the current situation over there.
As for Tour of Duties comment of humans being the dumbest creatures alive on this planet I would have to agree 100% with you. We may be smart book wise, technology wise, and have our own languages but we do so many things to harm fellow man and nature.
This video was graphic, but it was meant to show a point. Us Saddam/Terrorist scum are still out here and you can bite but we can bite back ten times harder, come and get us! They have been brainwashed...we must remember that. This is how their brain works, we may view them as sick animals but this is what they believe in. But for me, I see those people in the video as animals because they did something I would never do/belive in. This should not have been done to any human being.

We should just pull out of Iraq. We will never win the "hearts and minds" of such radical people.
I am in favor of covert operations and political assassinations. The problem with war is the poor dumb grunts (on both sides) do all the dying while those with all the power send them to their death while they sit back out of danger. Kill those in power, not the commoners.

Although that's the easiest thing to do, it wouldn't be the most rewarding. I say give it another year or maybe til the new/current president goes into their new term and then if we don't see any changes or hasn't heated down leave.

If another country attacks yours, you wouldn't go to extremes to defend your home, your way of life?

I would defend my country by means to a certain extent.
I would not however get 6 or 8 buddies of mine, capture a reporter. Put the reporter in handcuffs, and take a knife to his throat and slice his head clear off. My stomache first off would not be able to handle this and second I would never be able to live another day realizing how much pain I caused to an inocent person.
Now if you would slice someones throat and vital organs and take their head off and hold their head up in the air in pride, I do not feel proud of you. I would be disgusted and probably would feel pitty that you stooped to their low.

Lol, that's just stupid.
In the first place I believe that the war in Iraq is wrong. "Fighting for freedom".LOL!!! Go watch American '80s propaganda war/actionmovies you brainwashed American patriots!
But oke, I can live with the situation right now. You can't go get back in time. So I say: don't wait for another year and watch how Bush or a democratic Kerry are going to handle this situation, because there will be allways terrorists. Pointless war!
So you got 2 dilemma's now.
1. The Americans won't retry (because if they do, the Iraqi people think they defeated the Americans, and I know the Americans don't like to hear that).
Or 2. Instead of attacking terrorists (which is pointless in my point of view) defend your people! You guys can build 'Star Wars' against the Russians, but for muslims you attack?
Just give Iraq back to the people, leave, and f*ck them. If people are trying to kill you while you try to 'free them', I won't give a damn about them anymore and leave.Go back to work and try to make your economy stable (because the elections isn't only about foreign policy).

Maybe you won't do something like that. But I think if muslim soldiers rape your wife under your own eyes, you'd like to shoot a couple of bullets in their chest.
One way to another, you get same result. You killed somebody , just like they did.

How does the fiction of someone raping your wife relate to this, all the man tried to do was repair shit for them and they cut his head off. Stop trying to rationalise this It's black and white, if they want the Americans out they could employ any number of peaceful methods like those used by Gandhi in India. These people are sick and deranged and do far more damage to the cause they want to support than two hundred years of crusading managed.
There is a difference in shooting a man, and slicing his throat for the world to watch. Of course humans can get mad to a certain extent and adrenaline kicks and and humans do dumb things, or things we see now as uncivilized but are a part of nature.
These guys were not attacked by this reporter. He did not pick a fight with them. They did it out of pure joy and in the name of God apparently. He was inocent.
Now if my brother were to ever die over there you better believe I would enlist that day and get my payback, thats just human nature. Defend what is yours and always wanting more. But I don't see why they had to do what they did to an inocent man, I can see if it was a U.S. soldier.
About leaving Iraq, why leave now so they can get actual weapons of mass destruction and attack us? I would love to see this end right now right this second but when you make a promise and you break it, especially one nation to another nation you are creating big problems in the world.
Security at home is fine here. After 9/11 they have been heightened and will stay that way I hope.
Now if a soldier came and raped my wife (one that I don't have) of course I would be so angered adrenaline would take over and who knows what would happen from there, nature would happen things not controllable in a stable mind.
These terrorists knew what they were doing plain and simple and I disagree to what they did 100%.
*edit* ok so the guy was a repair man or reporter whatever he was I don't know. all I know is he was incocent 100%. I read some where he was a reporter also, maybe I am mistaken. *edit*

Disengaging from the governing role/restoring Iraqi sovernitiy has been the toughest issue for me to understand. There seem to be so many factors at play. Although from what I understand, the US/Coalition will still play a prominent role in the reconstruction after the June deadline. That is to say we will still have a presence in Iraq for sometime to come, what role will we play?
Is the administration being influenced by the re-election cycle and all of the percieved political consequences? Is a 24hr news media environment and the short breaking news shelf-life, combined with desire for immediate satisfaction having some effect?
It's been 14 months in Iraq, 14 months spent fighting a war unlike any in history. is that too long, not enough, I just don't know. Shouldn't wars last long enough to win? How do you define a win in Iraq?
Over 700 have lost their lives in service to this effort. One soldier, sailor, airman or marine is one too many. But how many lost their lives during WWII to defeat Naziism, or totalitarianisim? If casualties are the currency of war, how much are we willing to pay?
How much is it worth to feel safe and secure in our homeland? How much is freedom worth? Is it worth the sacrifice, worth enough to die, if only in an attempt to give it to another? One that for whatever reason, does not feel compelled to demand freedom themselves?
All we can do is give them the best opportunity. We cannot continue to expend blood and treasure on those that would just as soon watch as we die in their streets, rather than rise up and embrace freedom for the benefit of us all.

-Mass destruction? Where from? The air?
O yea! North Korea! Next target for the U.S huh? They are in the neighborhoud, so good excuse to invade them too.
-Yea, I know, Bush promised to take revenge. But like I said. It's a pointless war. For both. But both 'parties' don't think it is.
I agree with you guys that the victim was innocent, and thats why the kills/attacks of the Iraqi are more worse.

Terrorists didn't just spawn out of thin air once we went into Iraq, and they won't dissapear once we leave either.
This has been going on for a long time, and they will never be happy until all non-islamics (especially people from christian superpower countries) are dead.
We could have never gone into Iraq, and this same shit could have happened just because they felt like kidnapping and torturing an American.
It will never end. That area of the world breeds american / non-islamic haters from birth, and they've been in constant battle with other religions since the dawn of time.

I never said they have weapons of mass destrection I did say however, that they may be able to get them in some way or another. I didnt say exactly they can get them but that is what I meant.
Now remember I am a citizen of America, Im no politician, I have no say in the government, and half the shit my country does I support and half the shit my country does I don't support.
When we first decided to go to war, I of course did not support the war and still dont in the back of my head. We have been there too long to leave in the eyes of our government.
I would love for America to just leave and save lives, both Iraqis and American lives.
I never was the one who said we must disarm Iraq and get rid of Saddam. I was sitting at home watching him on TV. The only say Americans get is what President we choose basically.
I don't like Bush, don't like his choices, and feel hes a complete moron. I don't feel this war was necassary. But we made a promise, that is one of my pet peaves to never lie and keep promises. I guess because I've had many people lie to me and break promises thats just who I am.
I would love for my brother and his friends to come home. I do realize your from another country, but you must realize that I am not the head honcho of America and my voice can only go so far here.
I am not some person who walks around every day waving the American flag singing the song "Proud to be an American....Where at least I know Im free" or however it goes waving sparklers in the other hand. This isn't a flame, or bash just my feelings and opinion. And I have agreed to some of the things you have said already Tour.

I never agreed with the whole way Bush went about going to war with Iraq. With that said though, I don't think that we can just get up and leave. We made the mess, now we need to clean it up. Plus it wouldn't be fair to the majority of Iraqis who are good people. The problem I see is that Bush was too idealistic in his views and thought that all the Iraqis would greet us with open arms. It appears that the "What ifs..." weren't thought of enough. Plus his stubborness held up the UN involvement until things really started to get messy.
On a side note...What is up with the Gov't outsourcing to private Security firms? 25% of the budget to rebuild Iraq will go to these firms. Are they telling the military that they aren't good enough to provide security for Bremmer, the Green Zone and other areas? And how would you feel if you were defending the Green Zone as a US military man with a guy who is making a whole heck of a lot more than you for the same job?
