Yeah the Ark I think it was called. Santa Claus looking captain. The ship had a hole that a power beam could come out of.

Was a classic in the day. I would think one of the first mainstream Japanese cartoons in the States.

Transformers and GI were my favorites, but I remember liking Star Blazers also. Anything with guns and heavy metal kicks ass.
