I didn't know about goobas back then! I doubt I could work one in either, but it does make the hitting the cycle a lot tougher.

Thanks for the stats-chart M@ster. I think the stats are off though, as it mentions 3 headshots to kill someone. Such is not true at ecgns Beach, where you have to hit someones helmet off first (I hear the helmet takes first hs damage down to only 5). Also, medics can go up to 140 health so it would take 10 as opposed to 8 shots to kill them in the body.

The helmet doesnt matter. I read that the helmet 5 points were only a supposition. Try it at the beach, I did and 3 head shots are enough.

The helmet thing isn't consistant. A few of us have tried to figure out how the game works it, and havn't arrived at a clear rule about it. Sometimes the helmet blocks the headshot, sometimes it doesn't. Trust me... I've been going for head-shots for awhile now and the helmet thing is a constant aggravation. I believe it's a setting in the wolf config server side to have helmets take the first hs.

Maybe, but just before I posted that, I was playing and I saw a Lt who was chatting. I thought about what you said about the helmet and tried. 3 hs and he was dead. Maybe he was already damaged...

After a little bit of testing I think the helmet takes the shot if the shot comes from below and knocks of the helmet but not if the shot comes from the same level or above. I could be wrong though.

Helmet protection is controled by server side settings. Usally with any weapon other then sniper rifle you lose just 5 units in health but could be more depending on server you are playing on.

Sniper rifle does not matter. You a gonner if you get hit in head...

Below is the shrub varables that are set to do the trick.

HELMET PROTECTS FROM HEAD SHOTS - now customizable for 2.03
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cvars:
g_helmetProtects default: 1 turn on/off helmet protection
g_helmetDamage default: 5 amount of damage first head shot takes

When g_helmetProtects is on (1), the first head shot a player receives will
do g_helmetDamage damage on the player and knock off his helmet. The idea here
is that the helmet largely protects a player from his first head shot.

Note that this applies to all shots except those coming from a sniper, where
normal damage still occurs.
