Notice they are getting worse as the deadline to turn over power to the Interim govt approaches? seems pretty contradictory for them to increase attacks as June 30 approaches, unless you consider their real goal. They want us to NOT hand over power, to break our word regarding June 30th so they can say American never intended to leave, this is a permanent occupation, war against Islam etc.
These people are so damn unwilling to face the truth that lately the rumor around Iraq is that all these attacks, car bombs, etc are the work of the Israelis. God these people are f*$%#D up!

As far as Iraq is concerned, I'm not sure these executions are going to make much of a difference. I'm more concerned about the assasination of Iraqi leaders and policemen, because that has the potential to disrupt the transition process. Killing random foreign civilians does not have any effect on the Iraqi people's acceptance of their new government or the effective operation of that government. Heck, they may be glad the heat's off them.
The wild card is how these things play out at home... whether they tend to make the population more or less supportinve of our efforts there. The danger is that we either become disillusioned and leave, or we become irate and take rash actions that expand the number of people pissed off at us.
This is precisely why we DON'T want to nuke them... we need the majority of the population to at least grudgingly support us.
The best response is to ignore them and take swift action to find and kill them, so they see that not only are their tactics ineffective, but also deadly -- which is what the Saudi gov't is doing.

We've got to face the facts, they are never going to grudgingly support us. We have to do the job as right as we can and leave. In the end, it won't matter other than we will know that we did our best. One way or another, Iraq will become an Islamic Theocracy. It just a numbers game. If Kurds made up the majority of Iraq, we would have it made.

Actually I was reading a story the other day about how the average Iraqi can't wait til we hand over the reins. They think the Americans are to "soft" on the criminals and they want to get in there and hand out some old fashioned justice that they KNOW will work.
Could be the best thing for us is to hand over power quickly. The new Iraqi police force isn't going to worry too much about what CNN or the BBC says, let alone Amnesty International or other human rights watch groups.
Let's face it guys, We just don't see enough "Shot in the face 42 times and stabbed in the heart with an icepick while trying to escape" anymore.

CAIRO, Egypt - An audio recording purportedly made by al-Qaida-linked militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi threatened to assassinate Iraq (news - web sites)'s interim prime minister and said the fight against "infidels" would continue "until Islamic rule is back on earth."
Well , it's out the table now, isn't it. So much for Israel, Palestinians, the Holy Lands, etc. I'm glad they stated their true goals so we can all understand the stakes.
