Soldiers: Heroes of World War II Ships
review:
PC ZONE REVIEW - SOLDIERS: HEROES OF WORLD WAR II is:
"The best World War II game we've played in years"
"A spectacular and dramatic strategy game - this has it all"
"A powerfully intense game"
"Superb attention to detail and spectacular graphics"
"Bloody marvellous"
RATING: 90%
This is a massive achievement for the game from the notoriously tough PC Zone, which describes any 90% rated game as 'The best of the best'! Making it one of the very few games to hold the coveted PC ZONE CLASSIC AWARD!

IGN Review 8.5
8.0 Presentation
A neat synthesis of ideas but there are some real rough spots, particularly in the interface.
8.5 Graphics
Very gritty and realistic. The models are nice enough but it's the physics-powered damage modeling that steals the show.
8.0 Sound
Good use of music and effects. The voices need a bit of work but are serviceable.
8.5 Gameplay
Best when you're maneuvering a lone tank against the enemy. The environment is highly interactive.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
The missions are plenty hard and the promise of multiplayer will keep you coming back for some time.
8.5 OVERALL:
(out of 10 / not an average)

It's a strategy game, so I don't think you can have dedicated servers.

The Civilization series is one of the greatest franchises in gaming history. It is about the only game that i constantly go back to, year after year, as games like Half Life(and it's mods), UT, Quake, Medal of Honor, etc fall to the wayside.
if i feel like dominating a world on a whim, i'll just install my age of empires game... that game is crazy easy to defeat your opponents.. its almost retarded. But then so is waiting 45 minutes to resarch all of the things that you can before you go whoop another cultures ass.

Those turn based games make my head hurt!

All that "strategery" and stuff...

No doubt it is a great game of epic stature, however, it is just too complicated and time consuming for me.
