Social Security history - Amazing so know your facts

Postby CodeRed68 » Sun Jul 04, 2004 11:44 am

WHY DOESN’T MICHAEAL MOORE MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT THIS ? ?

SOME TRUTH ABOUT SOCIAL SECURITY

Democratic President Franklin Roosevelt introduced & implemented the Social Security Program. And ever since, we've been paying taxes into the Social Security fund. You'll know this by the payroll deduction shown on every pay check stub you receive where it says "FICA".

President Roosevelt promised:

1.) That participation in the program would be completely voluntary!

2.) That participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual income into the program!

3.) That the money paid into the program would be deductible from their income tax bill every year!

4.) That the money paid would be put into an " ....independent trust fund... " instead of into the general operating fund and, therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program!

5.) That the annuity payments made to retirees would never be taxed as income!

Since the vast majority of us have paid taxes into "FICA" for years and many of us are receiving a Social Security check every month, isn't interesting to know we're being taxed on 85% of the money we've paid to be "put away" for our retirement!

So, the following questions and answers may be of interest:

Q: Which political party took Social Security from the independent "trust fund" and put it into the general fund so the Democratic controlled Congress could spend it without having to account for it?

A: It was President Lyndon Johnson and the Democrat controlled House and Senate!

Q: Which political party eliminated the income tax deduction for "FICA" withholdings?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which political party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Vice President Al Gore casting the tie-breaking vote as President of the Senate!

Q: Which political party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: President Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party!! Under measures passed by the Democrats, immigrants who moved to this country began receiving Social Security Supplemental Security Income, "SSI", payments at age 65! The Democrats ok'd these payments even though the immigrants never paid a dime in "FICA" taxes!!

Then, after pulling off all these shenanigans, telling lies about what the money was being used for and how they were going to pay it back, which is basically stealing Social Security, the Democrats turn around and tell you the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!! And the worst part about all of this is that uninformed citizens believe it!!!

Do you think that perhaps the wrong questions are being asked during this election year?

Great post, CodeRed.

This story dovetails with yours. It's about Galveston County, Texas employees that pulled out of Social Security when it was still permitted. Now they get positive returns on their money unlike us who don't see half of what we put into it.

Thanks, guys. Just an FYI for those that don't follow this type of stuff.
It sickens me to think that in addition to the illegal Federal Income Tax, my supposed SS income is also going to be taxed if and when I do recieve my menial amount.

Charlie, thanks for that link regarding Galveston County. I did not know there were people actually utilizing a private SS program. That is great!! for them at least.
It just makes me more pissed at what could and should have been for all of us.

The government needs to stop deciding what is best for us and allow me to invest my own money however I choose.

Franklin Roosevelt did many illegal things. Such as directly influcing the economy and creating jobs (which he did not have the power to do under any laws/articles).

Should be interesting to see what happens to SS when all the baby boomers start turning 65.

Sad to know I wont see a dime of my money paid.

Yeah and congress was trying to pass a bill that would give illegal immigrants food stamps, green cards, social security ( for free) and all sorts of other crap.

1. The vast majority of Americans are far too undisciplined to actually save for retirement. Look at the average credit card debt and savings rates.

2. After nearly 30 years working in the steel mills, my father had a massive heart attack at age 45 and had open heart surgery and was never able to return to work. He lived 13 more years. We lived off of a small pension and social security disability income while I was in high school. My mom went to college with help from federal financial aid and became a teacher. I earned two degrees and received federal/state grants and about 24K in federally subsidized loans (I have paid them off 100%).

Umm, so what...part of being free in America is the right to get yourself into financial trouble. And I don't mean that as a joke.

And I recevied $0.00 in grants even though I made only $20,800 a year back then. And now I have to pay back, between me and my wife, > $80,000 is student loans. I feel sorry about your dad, and trust me he is in no way a part of my reply. What is my reply is that I am no better or worse than you and I got nothing from the government, so why should have you gotten $$$ from other hard working people? And others like you on MY money - I need to pay back MY $45,000 in school loans and I also have to fucking pay your school too? (not YOU personally, but all "you" in the system) Federal programs screw the middle class, like me. I got nothing, have to pay back everything, AND have to pay for others ... leaving me with less net worth that "underprivledged" people. Federal programs are a joke.
