Genetic manipulation

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Ingus, I think you're very accurate in your assesment of this topic being one of the top 3 over the next few centuries (another being nano technology and self replicating/self-designing {ie systems able to build around themselves to make more complicated organisms} systems. I'm leaving the 3rd option open for anything that might be coming up.)

Personally I've toyed with the topic a lot, especially in my last book (and have spent time in genetics labs and consulting with genetiscists), but I'd love to hear what people think about the topic.

Ethics is clearly one side of it, but one I'd like to put aside when considering the parameters of the original question, specifically what improvements/changes would you like to see?

As for environmental conditions/gravity, etc, lets suppose the conditions to be basically earthlike. The only difference being is that you're starting with a clean slate. The organism doesn't even need to resemble a bi-ped hominid, ie, 'modern' humans.

u write books? which ones? what book?

Ok considering clean slate... I wouldnt change anything... I think if we didnt have to change we should remain the same considering same conditions... Ok, maybe tails???

Is there a gene which gives a genetic predisposition for acting like a twat? If so i'd get rid of that.
