*WARNING* Political Thread Inside

Yes I know its the drudge report.
Here's the link to the Larry King transcript on CNN.com
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0407/08/lkl.00.html
There are so many things to be said about this that i don't know where to begin.
In an effort for equality and reconcilliation amongst our argumentative members lately I will adopt a "look at the bright side of things" attitude in this post
....Thinking about it.....
Still thinking...
Got It!
Bush got hammered for having Intelligence information about 9/11 before it happened and nothing was done about it!
That won't be a problem if Kerry is elected!
See I said something positive.

Let's get to, first thing's first, news of the day. Tom Ridge warned today about al Qaeda plans of a large-scale attack on the United States, didn't increase the -- do you see any politics in this? What's your reaction?
KERRY: Well, I haven't been briefed yet, Larry. They have offered to brief me; I just haven't had time. But all Americans are united in our efforts to defeat terrorism.

I am not even a Kerry supporter and I do not get your point.
He is not in DC.
He even says that he is being briefed later in the week, either the next day or the day after(which makes sense considering he is not in DC and that arrangments are being made).
It is not like he has a national security group following him around that can brief him on the fly, that is what the President and Vice President get.
It looks like an ant hill that you are describing as a mountain.

Pardon my exuberance here Jimmy:D
WRONG!!
I know what Title he WANTS to have but tell me if you can, What's his current one? You know the "molehill" he shares with 99 fellow Americans.
He is not in DC.
You are definitely right there Jimmy. What possible reason could he have for being in D.C.?
And although you are
you're ok with a man would could quite possible be the next president of the US putting a higher priority on raising 7.5 million in campaign funds over National Security?not even a Kerry supporter
Hell just from a politics angle alone its stupid. He could have learned valuable information that would help position himself better in the campaign process (without breaking secrecy rules). That makes him just plain stupid.
And we all know how you feel about stupid people in the White House.

I find it fascinating that this thread completely misses the point.
I mean we're talking double barrel shot-gun at a barn-door 3 feet away missing.
Ingus... you have a talent.
Why isn't the focus of everyone of your threads "How is our current president lying to us? What is he lying about? How deep do the deceptions go? What can we do about it? Who is involved?"
If nothing else you're amusing.

I get so sick of these "terror level" alerts. WTF am I supposed to do about it? Should I get paranoid and call the CIA if i see a "suspicious-looking" arab? We have people from all over the world living in my town because of the university. Diversity is a good thing.
Kerry has no more power than any other senator. I am sure he will get the information same as the other 99. Knowing now or in a few days will just not matter. Do you think they briefed Nader because he might be president?
Jim

Bingo.
I would be suprised if most senators had already had a briefing by the time of that interview.

As far as focusing on what is wrong with the current administration, I do talk about it. Now putting forward unsubstantiated rumour and calling it fact or finding any reason to oppose US policy like justifying Iraq's invasion of Kuwait I will leave to others. I'll focus on the real things that are done wrong.
Strangely you and Jimmy are absent from those posts. I would have though I would get some back up from you guys. I mean with RC at least posts when he agrees and disagrees with me. At least he has the integrity to be consistent.
Exactly which of those other 99 are presidential candidates or were even offered a breifing.

Ingus,
You have now made that ant hill into Mount Everest. You are really making something out of nothing.

I would think that as a Presidential candidate he certainly should have taken the briefing as soon as possible. If this his way of operating..... I wouldn't vote for him. He SHOULD find time.
And besides that... doing so would have helped him politically a lot better than "I didn't have time". The opposition is going to kill him on that one. As they are already doing.

Kerry or the President are busy, they each have priorities. The current presidents prioriity ( if there were only a choice of two) should be Terrorrists, then getting re-elected.
Kerry is not the President, his priority is getting elected. So what? If he had the detail that Bush obtained from a briefing, then what? Move armies or order bombers into the air?
No , that is the job of the existing Commander in Chief.
Both Kerry and Bush delegate tasks, and allote time to tasks which each deems neccessary at the time , in line with their current responsibility, so what?

Well lagoon while you have some very good points there I think smithpa68 put it best:
The things politicians say carry great weight. You have to look no further than JimmyT's sig line in the post 3 up from here to see how important what they say, and how they say it, is to some people.
