CD Image

Postby Tommy Boy » Fri Jul 09, 2004 4:29 pm

I know that this is probably a noob question, but what the hell? I am trying to learn something.

Is there a legal way that I can create an image of the disks that the games require on my HD without an illegal crack or something?

I think that there is a way, but I just don't know how to do it. If any of you can help me, I would appreciate it. Like I said, I am not interested in illegal ways, I am just trying to avoid disk swapping for different games if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Never had any luck with it but get alcohol 120%. You need to mount an image of the game onto a virtual drive on the PC. I have never gotten it to work though. Someone will be able to walk you through it.

Im pretty sure cracks aren't illegal. Makeing copies of games is illegal if you dont own the game. However, if you do own the game it's also legal to make a backup copy, as long as you don't sell the game and keep the copy or something. The thing about using alcohol and making an image is that it takes up HDD space, and from my experiance you still need a No-cd crack because the virtualdrive programs dont emulate the security devices well.

for all the BF games I used these free progs to do the same thing you want.
To rip the cds i used; "ddump frontend"
to mount the image I used "DAEMON Tools "

I have never needed a No-cd-crack to make the games run.

Have been using Alcohol 120% for quite some time, CloneCD before that.

Unfortunately, Alcohol ceased sales on June 30, 2004 and CloneCD last year.

correction, new website is here:

PM me i have CCD and alcohol...i use CCD for BF and it worked...that was the only one that i ever found that did work.
Folks say that alcohol works but have never succeded. Of note is that BV will not run if you have a spoofed drive on your sys.
I have not failed...I have just found 10,000 ways that don't work.

The latest version of Alcohol 120% works fine for all BF games, including BFV. If you don't know the copy protect, use Clony and/or Copy Protection Detection.

I believe BF games are Safedisc 2.x, but even then Alcohol has a way around that if you don't know what it is.

Note: if you don't use a decent reader, CD copying/imaging will fail. I prefer Lite-On.

30 day trial for Alcohol 120%. It's going to be your best bet, but remember, if your CD-ROM/Burner isn't up to the task, it won't read the CD. Go to http://www.cdfreaks.com if you want to learn more.

I use alcohol and it works great... I ripped my BF1942 SW disk and my Nam disk and thats all I need...

Also: As long as you rip everything and set up the virtual drives before the 30 days, it will keep working after the trial period, you just wont be able to adjust andything or rip anything new...

Yah, I used Alcohol to copy all 3 BF discs and BFV disc. So much more convienent than popping cds in and out.

Copying took a long time and kept showing many errors but it eventually worked on my 3 yr old Pioneer DVD drive.

I use ultraISO to create the ISO files, and alcohol to make the virtual drives. Never had a problem running any ISO with this setup, and ultraISO goes thru any copy protection that I have tried, just about... it takes time, but it works.

If you want a copy, PM me, and I can get it to you thru FTP :)

Never had any problem with the Alcohol 120 demo. I'm still running the BF and RtR images a year later.
