blew some money at a computer swap meet this past weekend and threw together:
P4P800SE Mobo
P4 2.4 Ghz with 1Meg Cache
1 Gig of PC3200 DDR 333
and a 7200 rpm Hard drive (so dem faster loading bastages won't get all the vehicles in 42 now)
and then threw my
ATI Radeon 9600SE
and
Audigy 2 into it.
Waiting til the Intel 64 bit chips actually work (probably/hopefully this next spring) and I am going for something like this:
Intel P? 64 bit processor
1Ghz FSB Mobo
1 gig of the new type of ram (should be out this fall/winter)
MS Longhorn OS (for the 64 programming. I scoff at all those "I have an Athlon 64bit" right now when there is no software to take advantage of it. Athlons will drop when Intel puts out a 64 bit and MS finally unveils Longhorn)
the current best ATI card
and a NON Creative soundcard.
This will be expensive but I want to be cutting edge when BF2 comes out:D My old computer was about 2 years old when 1942 came out and now finally 2 years later I have a system that doesn't lag or freeze up in combat.

I wish like hell Jobs would finally cave in and make OSX for Intel. Maybe modify a standard MOBO so that only Apple modified MOBOs will run OSX. He could still sell the hardware, control what goes in it, but use Intel/AMD instead. I just don't think the value is there in powerpc.
