I, Robot

Postby Evan » Sun Jul 18, 2004 4:50 pm

I went to see the movie Friday. It was a good movie, however, I'm disappointed that the movie did not have anything with the book at all. The only similarities I noticed were the names of the characters (except for Will Smith and Sonny) and the Three Laws of Robotics. Even the time periods (comparing the book to the movie) were off!

I, Robot is a movie I have been expecting so much, after reading lots of books written by Isaac Asimov I read some stuff about the movie has not anything with the book, though I was expecting to see Foundation before this move comes out, guess I will have to wait more time
Even the time periods (comparing the book to the movie) were off!

So It is not located in the first 1/4 of the 21th century?

Im talking about how the years are off.

The movie takes place in 2035 where Dr. Lanning dies, but in the book he's still alive in 2058.

I still want to see this, onyl because the director is very talented. His two previous movies, the crow and dark city, use the settings as a large part of the movie story, not just the characters and dialog. This is especially true for dark city, one of the best sci-fi movies i have ever seen.

Haven't seen it yet, not even previews. Let me guess: I bet there's at least one car chase.

Ugh. Another movie that will probably dissapoint me because of the books. Caves of Steel was one of the first books I ever read.

I think some books should be left alone. The only redeeming quality that i've seen is the female lead in the movie (dont know her name) is f-ing hot.
