There was a time when I use to care about brand name video cards.

When I upgrade from my 9800pro, probably some time next year, I'll be buying whatever's fastest.

Nvidia is faster when it comes to opengl, which I believe doom3 is based on (if i remember correctly)

ATI was still faster in DX9 games like farcry with everything maxed, and will most likely be faster in HL2

Stalker will be a feature complete dx9 game.(ie full sm 3.0 support and everyhting else that dx9 has to offer)
Im almost willing to wager money that nvidia will be faster in that game also.

then be prepared to dish out a ton of money for a 6800. because if you don't, the 5900's will still be slow as hell.

i think the GT is a single slot card with less number of pipes, and requires a lot less power. I could be wrong though.

same amount of pipes, same memory chips, just the gt is clocked 50mhz on gpu/100mhz on memory less than the ultra.
oh and its a 100 bucks cheaper:D
