You Ska purests really crack me up. The father of Ska is the one I NEVER hear from any of you. Fishbone. HIGHLY underrated. I've seen them 7 times. Even seen them headline for Living Color.

Modern punk isn't punk though some bands like AFI are good.. I HATE bands like Blink 182 that CLAIM to be punk. Most Overrated. Bands that should be talked about like Bad Religion are nonplus. Kids who wer Sid Vicious T-shirts because he looks kewl with f'up hair and a chain around his neck and didn't know he sucked at playing bass alhough the Sex Pistols were awesome.

Modern music on the whole annoys me. Maybe I'm showing my age. I turn 35 shortly. I grew up on great bands and great music.. now its ALL commercial. There are a few exceptions. Slipknot, Mudvayne, Mushroomhead.. the new hard bands I call them. All great.

Another PISS ME OFF topic is grunge. Nirvana was NOT the leader in this. Alice in Chains, the Melvins, SoundGarden, the Screaming Trees.. all leaders in this group until people thought Kurt Cobain was the kewlest depressant ever.

My props to people like David Grohl who tries to keep it real and the finger to anyone who ever said Linkin Park is the new Led Zeppelin.

As I sit hear and Listen to 'Don't Follow' my Alice in chains, I can't help but feel a little depressed for the passing of Layne Staley who was one of the best vocalists ever but didn't get a lick of respect from anyone outside of the purests.

You're god damn right... AIC rules... Layne was completely over looked as a lead singer... better than Kobain ever was at singing... AIC was the best band ever to come out of the grunge era.

I love Less Than Jake. For real punk I'll go to the Sex Pistols. I used to be a big fan of Blink-182 but then I grew up. As for a lot of the music these days, I am not a fan of most of it.
I agree with you whole-heartedly inmate on the issue of grunge.

Have to disagree on the Phish and the darkness....

live shows are what Phish were about... now that they are all but done its hard to explain but they were the ultimate jam band.

The Darkness however have only produced one song that is even remotely radio friendly and thats it.... one hit wonder.
