You people are missing the point, he want's to leave because the writing sucks. He does more voices than those three, about 10 or more. His main complaint was that after doing these characters for 13+ years, he had formed a character to go with the voices, and that the writing had just gone away from the character that was originally created, just to be funny or get new viewers. Anybody know what movie Harry Shearer co-wrote and starred in. Heres a hint, its about rock and roll.

there comes a time when some characters just don't entertain anymore. you can't keep doing re-hashes of past episodes with characters that don't "make" the series. If you did, they'd be incorporated into the show too much and it wouldn't be the simpsons anymore. mine as well create a "mr burns" cartoon if he wants his characters heard so much.

For the money those voice actors help the Simpsons franchice generate, they should be earning more than that imo. The Simpsons franchice makes inSANE amounts of money, and $250,000 for brining all those fans in isn't much.

hurray mutant!

So the guy gets a pat on the back for Spinal-Tap.

This whole thing reminds me of A Rod and the Texas Rangers.

They dont deserve it? Who cares how much 'work' it is, what matters is how much money what they do brings in.

Sports players earn as much as they do because they draw massive amounts of people in to watch them play, not because they work hard.

Same thing with movie actors. The high paying ones gte payed alot because they draw the crowds in. They make the movie generate alot more money than it would have without them.

Yes $250K is alot per episode, but as a percentage of what the simpsons generates as a whole, thats chump change. Most of the voice actors do 4 or more characters. They only have to pay what, 4 people for the most part?

Umm.. Harry Shearer is the voice of Montgomery Burns/Waylon Smithers/Ned Flanders/Kent Brockman/Rev. Lovejoy/Principal Skinner/Dr. Hibbert/Rainer Wolfcastle and a few others. Thats kinda important to the show.

Last i recall is that the show was mainly about "The Simpsons"

All aforementioned characters do not qualify.

lol not really... dont watch the show anymore, lost its flavor in my opinion. It was good, but the last time i was excited about an episode of The Simpsons is when we found out who shot monty burns.

Losing?

It lost it's flavour years ago.

I'm talking about the funny, semi-old ones. (1990-1999)

Well...I guess I just negated my own point!
