Don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it yet.

This director takes franchises and ruins them pg-13? Gimmie a break.

"Paul Anderson has not made a movie for the fans. He's taken a beloved franchise, stripped it of it's soul, and marketed it to 10-year-old boys."

Just saw it tonight. It did have stupid plot points (done to move the story into it's action phase) but I have to admit, I loved watching Predators fighting against Aliens. I was expecting to not like it, but would up really liking it.

Not too bad. I would've liked to see more of both sides, but it was reasonable well done. According to IMDB they cut out a lot of things that were filmed to make it PG-13 and I think that's probably a mistake. There are a lot of quick story advancements, but the SFX are good, and the Predator's look awesome. I usually try and avoid giving spoilers, but since this thread is full of them I'll answer Skillo: the Predator/Human team wins, but there is of course a (rather unreallistic) twist in the very last shot as the Predator's fly away from Earth.

I thought the first big fight between an Alien and a Predator was the best, certainly was the longest fight. The little skirmishes were ok, but I could have used one or two complete to-the-death fight scenes. I didn't even care about bad plot or acting. They may as well just started to the movie with a screen that said "We take you now to a pyramid beneath the ice, where Aliens are fighting Predators and people are caught in the middle...enjoy" then go right to the fighting. I would have been just fine with it.

 I agree. That would have been great. More scenes like the one from the past where thousands of Alien's are swarming towards a few Predators...that was great. I'd like to see this principle applied to some other franchise's too...like Star Trek :) Forget the plot and story, just have a huge battle with hundreds of ships. Actually, DS9 had a few episodes where that happened, but the movie FX are always better.

During one of the flash-backs they showed some predators fighting thousands of aliens with cool weapons. Seems like that would have made a better action movie than this one.
