Sid Meier's Pirates! (new version)
I saw the new version of Pirates at GenCon this past weekend. I watched for about 45 minutes as people played it. It reminded me a lot of the original version except it had much better graphics. Many of the things to do were the same as before. It was a little buggy but looks like it could be as good as the original.
Its release is scheduled for November. I really liked the original and am really looking forward to this release. There is more game info at http://www.atari.com/pirates/pirates/index.php
Full sails ahead!

I'll snag it too. Ole Sid Meiers, back in the game! Brings me back to the C-64 days. A lot current game developers should take a weekend and play some of those old games, learn a few lessons. Back then people worked very hard to get the maximum effect out of limited hardware capabilities. Most important of all, the great one's never sacrificed solid gameplay for eye candy. I get the feeling (and I could be wrong) that todays developers just look for more powerful hardware to take up the slack in programming.

This is definitely on my "to get" list. I loved the old Pirates!, and I'm sure this will be just as good.

For those interested, there's a new trailer of in-game footage.
