Read the rumors here.

Lucas to make more Star Wars?

21/08/2004 - 22:18:27

Star Wars creator George Lucas could be poised to make three sequels to the original space opera trilogy, according to insiders at Lucasfilm.

Star Wars creator George Lucas could be poised to make three sequels to the original space opera trilogy, according to insiders at Lucasfilm.

According to fan site Theforce.net, employees at Lucas's company Industrial Light and Magic have all been made to sign non-disclosure agreements to promise not to talk about the possibility of episode's seven, eight and nine being made.

Now industry insiders are predicting the director will make the follow-ups, which pick up where 1983's Return of the Jedi left off, despite insisting he would never be lured into filming them.

A posting on the site says, "You didn't hear this from me, but you might be curious as to why everyone at ILM just signed NDA's saying that they will not discuss Star Wars episodes 7, 8, or 9.

"Since they're not being made, why the NDA's? Of course, since when has Lucas been consistent?"

I'm actually excited for 7, 8, and 9. If you've read any of the books that happen AFTER the 6th movie, there really are some good stories.

They may be great stories, but it depends if Lucas will excute them to their full potential.

sometimes you gota know when to let a great thing die, i didnt like the idea of having these newest movies made, and as it turned out i think they suck, they appeal more to small children than to myself

He originally planned this as a 9 movie series, then backed off. Hopefully he does a good job with them!

The odds of Lucas doing anything remotely cool with Episodes 7-9 are about the same as me winning several lotteries. He's gone completely insane, in case no one's noticed.

Im a huge Star Wars fan to the point where my room has one wall with a huge mural on it and i heard he wasnt gonna do it. To me this is good news but they better be alot more like the old Trilogy, sort of dark, not as cheery, and it better not cancel out all the reading ive done too, o man would i be pissed.

Actually, it was 12 movies origianlly, then he scaled back to 9. He still sees it as 9 movies, but has said the last 3 will never be made.

Lucas should have handed the project off to someone else. Let Kevin Smith or someone like that oversee it's production, pick the director etc. If not Kevin Smith, there are plenty of other young producers that worship at the altar of the 'holy trilogy' and would be faithful to the orginal feel of Star Wars.
