I consider myself one who can stomach a lot of sick stuff but this video by far was the worst I have seen. I think not only because it was real, but watching the whole thing up until the end and seeing him sitting there and knowing what was going to happen to him, my heart just sank.
I am so sick of hearing about these barbaric islamic/terrorists and thier insane view of what god is and what rewards they will see in "heaven". I am an agnostic but was raised catholic and can honestly say my view were changed after seeing/reading about all the gruesome barbaric acts hunans have done to each other in history.
I will be 36 years old next month. I started really paying attention to the middle east and the events happening there in my adolesent (sp) years in the late 70's. I can remember the Iran hostage crises and it seemed to snowball from there.Time and again another arab/islamic suicide bomber kills innocents eating breakfast at a cafe or bombs a school bus. Over and over and over. In the name of what? God? I am done with the whole organized religion thing. It has caused more death and torture throughout history than anything else. That includes Catholics too. (Spanish inquisition).
Anyway, I hope I have not offended anyone here that is not my intention. Back to my original thought.
These terrorists need to be stopped, even if it means going door to door in every village and city in the middle east. Round them all up and put a big wall around them. Let them suicide bomb each other to death. So many innocent lives of men, women and children for thier insane beliefs. Yes, I said insane beliefs. I know you are allowed to believe what you want but when it comes to killing innocent others, i am sorry your belief is wrong.
I am so upset after I saw that video, I want to say nuke the whole place but I know that would kill innocent arab lives as well and that is not any better.
I do think we need to be over there and also believe taking Saddam out was justified and that there is a definite connection between Iraq and terrorism. If not Al Queda directly, then some other terrorist cells operating outside of Bachdad, in the mountains, known but ignored by Saddam.
A good defence is a good offense. They took the war to NY. Let's take the war to them and show them what it's like.

I said it a long time ago, and I will repeat.

I think a group of politicians recognized that the only way to get the middle east into the 20th century was to inject a western style democracy into one of those nations--as an example and an ally in the region. After 9/11, this need seemed more dire, and Afghanistan was too poor in resources and culture to be a viable start. Iraq had a secular society, oil wealth, and a whole laundry list of violated UN resolutions which could be used to justify a war. The WMD and funding of terrorsits were just the straw dog to make it a "clear and present danger" - there are many other nations which pose a similar threat.

Bush sold it, and we bought it--and IF this all works out I think history will show that in the end it was helpful in speeding up their society's evolution.

I disagree however, that the reason they want to kill us is because "we're free" or that they just plain hate Westerners. Try to put yourself in their mind. I think they have two principle burs up their asses.

1) They have an extremely conservative, theocratic society. Western media pushes an extremely liberal, anti-religious cultural message, which they view as a threat to their values. Christian Conservatives in the US should be able to understand this.

2) Through history Western governments, US included, have propped up dictators (both religious and secular) to satisfy our own global agendas (ie Cold War), and to ensure a trouble-free supply of oil. This has resulted in a large group of disaffected and disenfranchised people who view us and other European nations as the root cause of their problems. Anyone who's argued with a liberal should understand this.

Plus, as a very conserative culture, they keep grudges for a LONG time. Anyone who's lived in the Southern US should be able to understand this.

These aren't idiots or crazy people we are fighting. More like psychopaths... they are intelligent, but with a warped sense of right/wrong and a very big chip on their shoulder.

Does that justify their actions? HELL NO.

I agree with you 100%, Pudrik, but I think you missed an important angle.

I compare this to German mentality during WWII, specifically dealing with the treatment of Jews.

These people are indoctrinated to believe that they are god's chosen people, and that everyone else are infidels.

Then they look at our country, other western countries, and say to themselves "if I am god's chosen, why are they living so high on the hog, and here I am in squalor? It must be their fault."

This, I believe is an important factor in addition to the reasons that Pudrik listed.

I was watching TV a few weeks ago and saw a documentary on how this entire thing was a hoax.... the guy that apparently had his head sawed off was sitting in a chair telling the interviewer how easy it is for the media to run away with bogus ideas.... and there was talk about how easy it is for war propaganda like this to spread across both countries to fuel hate and anger. Im just wondering if anyone else saw this.... there wasn't a lot of information on the fact of it being a hoax (of course there wouldn't be) ..... I'm curious to know if anyone else knows anything about this?

there was a guy who made a video in his basment to see how fast it would spread but, there was a post about it a while ago. I think he worked for a bank and hoped he wouldn't lose his job after the news article was made. As for the real beheadings there have been several and as far as I know they are real and did happen.
