Star Wars - DVD Release

Postby Heart Collector » Mon Sep 13, 2004 7:27 pm

When I go into a movie store, they've been asking me if I want to preorder the Star Wars original trilogy on DVD. When I tell them no, they allways ask why. I tell them "because I have a feeling George is going to fuck up the story or feel of the original like he did when he decided to make episodes 1-3."

Well look at this bullshit.

I absolutely loved the original trilogy, but if he's gonna assfuck it and change things around, I wont be buying it. I will buy asian bootlegs so I get the REAL movies.

I don't want CGI added to it, I don't want scenes added, and I really don't want people extracted and replaced by others.

Am I alone here?

Screw that! Why would you want to slip that talentless turd into a perfectly good movie. At least hamil was just wooden not whiny and wooden.

I am beginning to think te real Lucas must have been abducted by aliens from the planet shitforbrains and replaced by one of their own.

I think that the original on DVD has been long overdue...but I agree that the changes are not really what I prefer, but they are minor so what the hell?

i'm waiting for the before theatrical release edition where you get a really rough version of each film. Where the sound is off and some really bad special effects are in place so they have an idea of what the concept would be.

They aren't minor. That whole added scene in Star Wars with Han talking to Jabba while Jabba "walks around" is horrid. All that extra crap bugs me, and for somebody who once said "the true fans are the most important voice in my decisions", he sure is sticking it to them.

I by no means am a HARDCORE fan, I just want what was originally released. Most people prefer those that were around when they came out. I don't like the added cgi effects, as it really takes away from the feel of the movies.

Movies don't have the "realism" feel anymore because of too much "high end" graphics. The original, sedentary Jabba the Hut was more real to me than that computer animated one they added in.

Look at episode 1 & 2 (soon 3). Looks like a really long disney infomercial.

The least he could do is release both sets. Original, and special edition.

I have the bootleg set for some time now at least 2 months if not more, was given to me by a friend. But I look foward to buying the new set as it has an extra dvd and I would like to see the changes. I guess I get the best of both :)

So isn't there a dvd ANYWHERE with the original in it?

I have the old VHS trilogy. Did they change/add anything in those?

It isn't the special addition either.

No. They enhanced the SOUND on yours. Upgraded to THX specs from the original. No scenes were added or anything else.

You can buy DVD's of the ORIGINAL (your versions) theatrical releases on DVD from people on Ebay.

Thats what I plan on doing.

I have the Original AND the THX enhanced versions of the VHS trilogy.

The 3rd one, the Special Edition, is the one to avoid if you don't want added scenes and lame cgi graphics.

I was a pretty hardcore Starwars fan before Episode I. I saw it at midnight like alot of you and was not impressed. Actually, it ruined it for me. I haven't seen Episode II and probably won't see episode III. It just got too gay with Jar Jar and the flying Italian mechanic and whatnot...

I saw episode I, and haven't seen episode II, and will not see it nor will I see episode III.

The new ones are like disney versions of what they should have been.

I guess I'm the only one who realizes, they had the "special edition" on DVD as well?

ANd what is the big deal with CGI graphics? o_O

AND BTW episode 2 was allot better than episode 1 but not as good as the trilogy.
