GUID / CD Key Duplicate
I'm new to RTCW (just got broad band - we're a little slow over here in england) - and I've just discovered the joy of multiplayer RTCW - the ECGN beach is fantastic when plenty of people on it.
....however I often get bumped off for 2 minutes for "Duplicate GUID/CD Key" - very annoying mjsut as the game hots up.
Whats causing this - I have a valid copy of RTCW (Platinum edition) and enter the CD key every time I start up. (I know I can't proove too you my copy is legitimate - but just assume it is for any answers!). [I guess someone else is non-legitimately using the same key - what can I do?]
Hope this isn't too far off the subject group.
Thanks

You have to enter your cd-key ever time you start the game?
it's been awhile since i played RTCW but i don't remember
having to do that.
To fix a cd dup problem you might have to email support
for the game you are playing.
good luck

Hey hey another englishman. Welcome to the game dude! Next time you are playing try to get your guid number by typing in the console /my guid (I think that's right. somone say if not) and take down the 8 digit guid number that appears. If you give us that number then we can check whether or not someone is using the same guid as you or whether it's just making a mistake.
Like Bladerunner says though you shouldn't have to type in your cd-key everytime you want to play.

Er chax I checked your guid and there are 9 pages of aliases for that guid (tick$ is one of the aliases
). Can I ask where you bought your copy. Was it second hand? Was it adverised on ebay with a picture of the case cd-key clear for all to see?

Well you could try contacting id software or whoever supplies the game and see what they say. Other than that I have no clue what to do...
