The fix is in.
Not once in a playoff or Conference championship game in the past two years have the Patriots been called for holding or pass interference. Even with the emphasis this year ( An emphasis due entirely to the Pats last year by the way)
The Pat's are well coached and smart, they've figured out something important regarding mugging receivers: It's worth an occasional penalty to mug a receiver. They get called for it just like anyone else, the difference is, once they get called, they don't stop doing it, back off, and let the receiver score a touchdown. A 15 yard penalty at the spot of the foul beats the hell out of watching a receiver torch you for a touchdown. Ya gotta work the system right up to the edge..then go a step or two beyond once in a while. I love watching pre-season football, and I can usually tell which rookie DBs are going to make it in this league. When I see a rookie DB who has good closing speed, good position, yet gets nailed two or three times for PI, I know he's going to be OK. In the future, he'll learn to hide his holding a little better, but I know he's got the right mindset.
"Our father who art in the Linc, Donovan be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy 'Bowl will be won, in Jacksonville as it was in Philly. Give us this week our yearly win and forgive us our pass interferences as we forgive those who make field goals against us. Lead us NOW into interceptions, and deliver us the Trophy. Amen."

thanks to Spirit of Me for the sig!

I think Freddie Mitchell is starting to realize what ignorant thing it was to bait the Pat's secondary.

LOL, all he had to do was keep his mouth shut for two weeks. Now he and his fellow WRs are going to get pounded on mercilessly.

I have heard this same sentiment alot, but really - since New England this great reputation of being ready for every team and since this is the Super Bowl, what will the New England backfield now do differently with this extra motivation?

They might have been flat, not up for the game, not fired up. They were certainly flat when they got beat by the Dolphins.
