Pierce Brosnan offically quits

It is the moment a lot of James Bond fans have feared. Pierce Brosnan has once and for all confirmed his days as 007 are over. In a written statement on his official website, Brosnan asserts that "Die Another Day" was his last outing in the famous tuxedo, and he will not be back in Bond 21.

It was a decade of my life that I will always hold dear to my heart and a time that will never be forgotten. And you dear friends stood by me throughout. Many, many thanks! But everything comes to an end, and one must accept this decision which cannot be dealt with in any other way but with some kind of grace and knowledge that I did the job to the best of my ability"
Despite making similar statements in television and magazine interviews over the past few months, rumours have still circulated that Brosnan may still come back to the role. Those rumours are now finally dismissed with this written statement.
Brosnan's open letter comes at a time when talk of which actor should take over is rife - with dozens of names being splashed around by the media. MI6 reported last month that Clive Owen is the man in the frame for 007 #6. Other than MGM canning the release date of November 18th 2005 to "sometime in 2006" following problems securing a director, no official announcements have been made on Bond 21. Further complications have upset the usual production schedule due to the Sony buyout of MGM.

Good for Pierce. I love his reasoning: the franchise is nothing but stunt after stunt. He wants to take it to a more realistic level. The producers want to milk out as much cash as possible(which to them is a flying boat with nazis destroying missles<yes, the missles time travel> that fire out of it's tail pipes).
After Tommorrow Never Dies, it just went to the shitters! I personally wanted Sean Bean to be the next bond, but now it's this clive owen goofball. I'm afraid he is going to be the next Timothy Dalton!

Timothy Dalton was good! After Roger Moore being Bond for 12 years (he was 58 when he did his last Bond film and he needed a stuntman to do his running scenes for him) Timothy Dalton brought back the literary Bond from Fleming's original novels. Dalton is the true underdog. Some people think he belongs near the bottom of the best Bonds list along with Lazenby but IMO, he belongs around the top...Moore turned it into a comedy...Lazenby sucked...Brosnan has become boring...Dalton was great, Connery was perfect.

I know it's hard to picture, but Ewan McGregor would make a kick-ass Bond. He doesn't look right, but he's got that innate coolness that everyone except Connery lacked.
