there are several ways to do it

stick the windows CD rom in the computer

some bios' let you hold down the F8 key and access the CD rom to do a re-format when you restart. go into command prompt and type format c:/

if that's not the case then continue reading

restart computer, hold down the DEL key. in the bios boot menu, change CD ROM to #1.

exit and restart

the computer will access the cdrom upon startup, and display a menu where you can reformat the computer

it's been ages since i formatted my XP computer, so hopefully what i said was correct

Easy peazy japanneazy.

Just got done doing one that was......FUBAR.

Just before the loading screen, hit F10, which is system recovery. Goto avanced options, it will say, are you sure you want to use TOTAL DESTRUCTIVE RECUVERY........ which will re- cure your comp, to ORIGINAL FACTORY SETTING'S, "out of the box.....so to speak", click next, or continue, then its just a waiting game. RE, install all your apps/games, firefox, winpatrol, adaware, spybot, etc, etc.

There you go.

They say "the experts" you have to re-install windows, but it is already installed, because, that is the os you are running, windows XP, or whatever.

So ya.

F10 when it say hit F10/ 1 for system recovery/ settings...... advanced.......next.....wait.....besure to update your system with windows update........ upgrade to SP2, then install your Firewall/ virus pro.

K your welcome.

i dont think so
just rapidly hit f10 it should work.
its only too late once you see the windows thing with the pretty blue or green bar going across the screen.

Doesn't work...
Cant click anything because of an Explorer error..... then 5 more errors pop up...

Ok, I reformatted, tried to re-install windows and get a "serious disk error" at 34%...... does this mean my Harddrive is clusterfucked?
EDIT: is there any way I could partition the harddrive to seclude the messed up sectors?
