Someday soon, CDs will be obsolete, and so will big record companies. With technology for 'garage bands' improving and the internet as a form of delivery/promotion, there will be no need for big record companies. Band will make their money of live performances (which is how they make their money now) but they will make more because they will take a larger amount of the gate, instead of repaying the record label for the elaborate costume changes, dance troops, etc (all there to hide the fact that current performers can't perform live)

So your excuse is because you do not like your local radio stations? Well, advancements in technology is the worst excuse I have heard so far, but this might just be the second worst.

And those are the reasons I listen to underground music. Much more technical and the lyrics are from the heart. Lyrics on the radio are meant to be catchy and have clarity, something everyone understands and can sing-a-long to. I dont really download music though, for the most part I'll listen to a band from a friend or on purevolume then buy the cd.

My reponse: GOOD. I hope every single eprson that DL'ed a movie for free gets to pay a fine.

why should everyone whos every downloaded a move for free have to pay a fine? They shouldnt make the program if they know it's illegal and will have many users. If its free why not take it. Nothing is free these days, if I can get something for free Im going to. Although I dont download movies or music for free, unless its off purevolume which helps artists get out there.

Movies and software programs I can understand being illegal to download for free. Music on the other hand, I do not. Like in Jeffro's post most musicians on the radio have lost touch to what music is suppossed to be. The cd label, and others who control the artits basically write music for money. Just money. The musicians are in it for money.

Musicians in the underground scene would just be happy someone downloaded their song for free because it shows them that someone actually likes their song and they may have gotten the point across in their song.

Im sick of rap its all about the same thing; people being killed, money, bling bling, girls, and materialistic things. There are no metaphors in music on the radio, its all the same. Easy lyrics, easy beats, easy, easy, easy quick money. Society musically wise is retarted.

I know that when I buy a cd of a band from the underground it's going to help them go on tour, buy a tour van, feed them, help them make t-shirts, and maybe even get drunk. But you know what Im glad thats what the money goes to. When you buy a cd from a huge artist that money will go to their new car or huge ass house. All stars put their money in all the wrong places.

" Actually there have been studies that show CD sales have changed and grown because people preview the songs and actually know what they are buying before purchasing. "

Thats what I do, but off of a "LEGAL" site.

some people on the forums seem miserable all the time and negative as all hell.

i dont have a problem with the movie industry. But the music industry can go fuck themselves. :)

Do I really have to spell it out for you? i guess I do, and that is just plain sad.

You are mad because TECHNOLOGY progresses, offering newer and better formats for audio, video, etc. LP, tape, CD, DVD, etc. The music and movie industry has NO CONTROL over the advancements of technology. With each new format, the music and movie industry has to PAY to produce versions in those formats, you are basically saying they shoudl provide it for free to you since a long time ago you bought the LP of Abby Road.

So, basically, you are pissed that technology advances, and new formats come out. Sad excuse.

Talking to you Jimmy is worse than talking to a woman. Do you really think for one fking moment that the corporations involved in both industries don't colaborate to empty your wallet. Oh and NO, they don't pay to produce the art in a new format. YOU DO. You pay 16.99 Jimmy for the new format not them.

the format that itunes and others are pursuing seems to be a move in the right direction.

Thats not only an ignorant statement Jimmy its insultive.

Do you think the rest of us to be so ignorant that we don't know that the same people who own record labels and movie studios don't also hold an interest in the recording/copying media. See my above post and ignore it again like you did this time.

Yeah I guess Sony pictures is filing an in house lawsuit against their own divisions that make recordable media.

Go away and come back when you came come up with a arguement better than insulting our inteligence.

Lol. ignorance must be bliss for you two.

Ignus, why would I 'ignore' your post? Could it be it is nothing new and so stupid I did not feel the need to respond? "They have songs on the radio, so they have been released to the public domain.' Great excuse, yeah, a real winner that one is. The rest are the same rehashed bullshit, too. I didn't need to reply to it, your lame ass reasoning shoots itself in the foot.

Think about what you are saying. Record and movie studios are advancing technology so they can re-release the same thing to make more money???

Hate to break it to you, but technology advances itself, and the rest join in for the ride. HD DVD and Bluray are competing to be the next DVD standard. Movie studios will tell them what kind of space will be needed, and audio industries like Dolby will tell them what kind of space they will need, NEITHER are coming up with these new formats, niether control which will make it and which will not.

Lets not even forget that CD's and DVD's are not even exclusive formats for music and/or movies.

Why not bitch that Intel and AMD keep coming up with faster processors, making newer software being programed to run at higher specs forcing you to upgrade? Does this mean you have every right to get a free processor? I mean, you did buy an Intel or AMD before, so you are entitled to more Intel or AMD CPUs, right?

Or how about getting every new version of Windows. That damn Microsoft, making Windows more and more powerful, forcing you to upgrade. You should get the new version for free, right? After all, a long time ago, you did buy Windows 3.1, so XP should also be included.

Psst, we live in the United States. All businesses are looking to get you to buy from them. How in the world do you not know this.

Wow. You do know they have to pay for the production on that new format, right? You do know they pay before you buy it, right? You do not hand them the money before they even start to produce the product you are buying. This is, once again, capitalism working. Again, how in the world do you not know this.

I dont agree that the music/movie industry has a marketing scheme to update the format of viewing/listening of movies/music. It's just too complicated and it wouldnt make that much money. However Im sure that all music production/movie production companies have deals with companies that make the cd's or whatever format they are in for them. Like making a movie at 5-10cents a cd or something.

It probably costs about 5-10 cents to make games on cd and yet we pay anywhere from 15-100+ dollars for what maybe 1-4 disk games. Some of it goes into the making of the games, to pay the employees and stuff, but not much, it's all profit. All money.

I'm not getting something new and improved. I'm buying another copy of Dark Side of the Moon when I've already bought the thing 3 damn times. Don't take this as something personal. As consumers we've already purchased the material. It's nothing new.

Think about what you are saying. Record and movie studios are advancing technology so they can re-release the same thing to make more money???

In America? Who'da thunk it. Hell not even America, the greeds global.

The music and movie industry has NO CONTROL over the advancements of technology.

Sony...

Look man Take your guard down for a moment. We are speaking of multi national corporations. It is my firm belief that the corporations are driving the technology out of a need to continually present their product to you over and over again for their profit and at your cost. I am personally tired of paying my taxes on Friday, only to find another tax on the dinner bill hours later. I am equally as tired in respect to purchasing the same multimedia again when I already purchased it.

You want to get paid again? Then cut another album or shoot another movie. I'm not giving George Lucas another fking dime. Unless it's for a NEW movie.

This could be debated forever, god blees humanity. However, this is how I feel on the topic.
