but honda's concept cars are almost always very close to the actual model that goes into production, so if it doesn't look exactly like this, it will still be very very close.

Camaro and Firebird? were around till '02 5.0 fox body mustangs (even though ford sux), now theres the GTO, the charger, the 300c, the marauder etc. all two or four door sedans, plus the Montes SS's and 442's grand prix 2+2's of the wighties.

This new version of the civic is impressive and I hope Honda brings this version to the states.
I own a 2000 Integra Type-R and I will forever be a fan of the Honda motor company. I have a great respect for many automobile platforms and the hatchback civic will also be reminders of my first years of autocrossing.
For a civic the Horsepower numbers look good, however Honda really needs to start catching up in there 25,000-30,000
sport coup platforms horsepower numbers. Platforms like the Evo and WRX, Mustang and others are well ahead.
I can still give these cars a good run for there money, but 200HP is just not cutting it anymore.

Nice looking car but it must be the sir with that much power. (This year the rsx-s has 210hp and 8000rpm though) And is that a carbon fibre hood? honda needs more/any factory warranty mods.
I'm not sure comparing a civic to a wrx is exactly a fair comparison... there's about a $9,000 price difference.
Last year in canada the #1 sellling vehicle was the f-150, again, at over 71k sold. The civic was the top car, again, at over 61k sold, so they're both doing something right!
Oh, and the non-sir at least civics are made in Ohio.
(go honda!)

Once again harry, with the exception of the chryslers those cars arent in production. Im not saying they dont exist, just you cant get them new...
Really, is the move toward smaller displacement but powerful engines a bad thing? They are certainly more effecient for a given amount of power. Look at F1, huge amounts of power from a relatively small engine (displacement wise).

All you Ford bashers, ive owned Ford all my life, still have my 93 t-Bird 5.0 runs like a champ leaking sunroof was the only prob I ever had.
My 99 F-250 superduty? no pickup built today can compare already has 100k again zero problems
the last F250 (4.9 straight 6) speedo stopped working around 250k kept it for 2 more yrs it still ran when i gave it away
And of course the Vinny-man 04 Freestar heavier, more power, AND 2k less than chrysler, lets not forget that stellar 5-star crash rating

Hondas will run forever if you maintain them properly.
My first car was an 83 Civic and it had 186000 miles on it before I wrecked it.
My current car is an 89 Accord and it has 229000 miles on it, dosent burn any oil, gets 36 miles per gallon on the highway and there is nothing mechanicly wrong with it.
Someone I know has an 86 civic with about 415000 miles and its still in good condition.

I think anything will run forever if its maintainted properly. Oil changes, tune ups, etc. But I can agree some last longer than others even well maintained.
Hit the nail on the head. Change your oil every 3-5K, change plugs and wires every 75-150K (depending on the vehicle - my Explorer hasn't needed 'em yet at 140K), keep the brake, power steering, and tranny fluid topped off (correctly), flush the radiator periodically, rotate your tires, and never let anyone touch any engine, transmission, or axle parts unless you are having a problem. Too many times, cars run like crap after major tune-ups that they never needed. (Side note: change the timing belts on smaller engines at or below 75K - your valves may not make it through a broken belt...). And keep an eye on your brakes...you can get 125K out of 'em if you don't stomp 'em all the time....

I disagree. Their is a definitive difference in quality among auto makers. Can you extend any vehicles life by proper maintenance? Yes. However, some are just far superior in quality control and design.

Very true, Fords confidence in thier strong truck sales caused them to fall behind a bit, instead of evolving some weak models they just bought whole companies, such as Jaguar, Volvo, and a majority stake in Mazda.
Much like GM did with subaru and saab... and now saab fans have to drive a slightly redesigned subaru instead of a a real saab. Ford probably got a good deal when the bought volvo, the S80 platform now underpins a lot of their cars. I will say this: Ford cars suck! I know because my dad owns a taurus and its incredibly cheap feeling and poorly designed... but it had a ton of rebates... as far as reliability nothing particularly bad. Had to have some important piece of the dashboard and a bent wheel replaced just after we got it, but other than that maintenance has involved oil, brake pads, and cleaning the throttle body which seems to gum up easily...

Everytime I see a car on the side of the road it is a Ford. I only like 2 or maybe 3 of the Ford cars and trucks. [/B]
the only reason you see more broken down fords that anything else is becuase more people drive fords than anything else on the face of the fuckin planet, its simple math, if toyota was a popular truck youd see them broken down all over the place, its really just a simple numbers game
