Do NOT purchase Shadowbane.

Postby Ruci » Sat Mar 08, 2003 8:54 am

I beta tested it and Shadowbane is plagued with the mentality of the big fuck the small.

Cities are healed by gold and the upkeep of a player city is soo immense that you need either a busling economy or a huge ass guild. It's always the latter of the two because economic growth is not on anyone's radar screen when it comes to this game. The larger guilds get better equipment and the trainers simply because the NPC cities don't provide it past level 30 or so.

Pickup groups are going to be hard to find and you will get yourself screwd if you aren't part of a Guild in this game. It forces you to join a guild at level 35 because then the regular npc cities will essentially kick you out.

So then you are stuck with smaller guilds and bigger guilds and the big fuck the small because the ones with more funds eventually win out. Skill has NO PLACE in this game. It's a zergfest.

I also forgot to mention that throughout beta if a certain class was overpowered they would just nerf it to high hell instead of giving it a decent fix.

its like the older time you get shields swords axes and stuff you can get in a guild but the bigger guilds cant step on the little ones its just the higher lvl your people are and the more you have the more you can do good guilds will go on raids and kill thing to get items i play eq and i like it .... it also takes skill the char you chose you just cant go out and kill what you want and you also have to play your spells well and stuff like that so if you dont like the game you whare talking about(and i think you dont :P) come and play eq and post back here

Translation: I say you try Everquest. It is cool because you start out at level and and then you level up and move out and group with other people like you.

The older you get the quality of your items (shields, swords, and axes) go up and the bigger guilds can't exploit or screw with the little ones. You can go on raids and such and everyone has essentially the same character it is just with what skill they use those abilities. So please play EQ and post back when you try. End Translation

I played EQ and i don't like sitting around for hours on end on raids waiting for nothing to happen or else you end up being a minor role of the raid but i appreciate the thought.

Unfortunately on most of the raids i went on in DAOC they were simply cluster fucks. Although the coded allowed for a smooth cluster fuck in daoc. Expect lag in shadowbane for your now Futile cluster fuck.
