Silent Hunter III
I just got started on SH3. WOW, what a cool game so far. Havent even got through the naval academy training portion of this game yet. I am thinking to the future of mulitplaying in this game and am looking for some guidance. If you have any input and wouild like to get in on a WAN game with me and others, hook me up. I have been told that there are no dedicated servers for public use, so I (or we) could set something up on one of our PC's. I am posting here (and not any other game network forum) because I have buddied up with ECGN players on the #1 server, and CoE, and even #2. I have found a level of maturity here that I dont find elewhere, as you can see by my avatar.

Actully those screens are a bit crude. The content is good but if I may brag, I must cuz I just paid a bundle for my new rig
hehe, but the res on those is pretty low. Just to let everyone know, the game looks EVEN BETTER than that. My res is maxed and With anti-aliasing to smooth out those edges, it is very nice. To be honest most of it is about the same as say BF1942 the FH/DC mods skins and textures. The exceptional part is the water motion with refelctivity, and of course the explosions. The gameplay in itself is great and, still I havent even graduated sub school yet. Lets see if I can post some of my own screenies when I get some good action shots.
PC: 3.2 GHZ P4 LGA 775 800mhz fsb, Sapphire RADEON X850 PCI-Express 256MB, 1GB Kit of Kingston Hyper-X DDR2, WD SATA Raptor Drives 10k RPM Striped RAID1, Turtle Beach Santa Cruz 5.1 Surround Sound Card. ABIT MoBo with 1066mhz fsb capacity (and coming soon when I find the right processor)

I suspect the screenies have been downgraded before being posted.
As for multi-player, you have 2 options:
- have one player host the game on his PC (up to 8 players)
- use an ubi.com server (up to 4 players). You need to register on ubi.com for a free account.
I don't understand why there's no stand-alone server like the one they had in SHII.

Excellent and very detailed review of the sim by a long-time player. With pictures.
