It's amazing how some like to see people suffering.
Obviously this girl was terrified (for good reason, your cops are like the SS) and/or has a problem (personally, I agree with Buli for the "drama queen" part, but it doesn't justify how she was handled). She was pulled over for speeding, for god's sake. How could that lead to her being tased a few SECONDS later?
He could have waited 2 minutes for her to calm down. Of course it looks like he gave her ample warning... like 3 times in about 5 seconds. She probably wasn't even hearing him in the state she was in. It's called "panic".
There's too many goons who join police just because they like the power.
Chacal who is the SS? http://www.handguncontrolinc.org/911_1.htm

I like when the one officer said , " its not that bad I have been tasered befor." I think a taser is a great tool for the cops to have. If they can use it on themselves then she wasen't suffering as bad as she made it.
As for how to deal with a traffic stop. Well I have had seven speeding tickets in five states (Mass,Conn,NY,NC,SC). You wanna know how to talk to a cop. Simple, yes sir no sir, or mama (sp?). And that last thing you say is thank you, if for nothing more then risking his/her life for your saftey.

The cops with the tazer.
Those ones you mention goofed up, are sorry about it and were punished. They are not treated as heroes for having tortured a lunatic but harmless girl.

The thing that bugs me here is that the officer was in a unmarked car...there have been times where people have been robbed or raped by fake police. However, the woman was out of line but I think 1 tazz was enough.

Let me get this straight. Family get together pointy birthday hats a cake and pin the tail on the donky. Suzy blows out the candles and makes a wish. Suddenly blam the door bursts open and a police SWAT team combat enters the room screaming and pointing guns at the children. The dog has no idea what is going so he reacts instinctively to protect his home. Blam, Blam the mounty opens up next to little Johnies ear good thing little Mikey had just moved from behind where Spot had been standing, but he did get dog blood splashed on him. The Mounties then haul off little Suzies dad to spend 2 months in jail then they drop the charges and say umm sorry about that little misunderstanding ahh. You think that this senerio is ok? However, you think it is a bad thing when an American cop gives a psyho a jolt, because she has broken the law, would not comply with lawful orders, assaults 1 officer and is on the phone with only God knows who and giving them directions to her postion to do what?
I suppose the 1st scenario would be all right if Suzie was mad at her dad for making her clean up Spots doggy do, and she wished for them to pay when she blew out her candles on her cake.

I guess it depends on how you look at the events. In one case it's an accident but the effects are worse (dog killed, children frightened), in the other case it's premeditated but the effects are less (woman gets tazered, hilarity ensues).
I find the second case to be much worse. Those cops resorted to unneeded violence as first option. Clearly the woman was no threat and there was no pressing need to have her out of the car.
In fact, they used violence because she wouldn't or couldn't *immediately obey* them.
What worries me is this is becoming accepted behavior in your country, as attested by the other posters, and yet it is one of the clearest signs of a country being a police state.
It goes with the rest, I suppose...
Patriot Act was supposed to end in 2005... yeah right.

Chacal,
I like you. You have a good personality and are quite humurous as well, however I have to disagree with your opinion.
In this country, a routine traffic stop could prove fatal to a police officer, therefore it is prudent to be extremely careful. Futhermore, while you think their use of a tazer was excessive, I feel that it was probably a better option than say beating her with a baton or shooting her.
In this day and age, it would be possible that... A) she possessed a gun, B) she was high on drugs or alcohol, C) HIV positive, or D) all of the above! IMHO using a tazer is a reasonable alternative to grabbing her and forcing her out of the car considering the issues I listed above.
Her blatent disregard for authority and subsequent insulting remarks, show her disdain and disrespect for the police. It was her choice to be tazered... if she had complied with their requests, then nothing would have happened.
IT WAS HER CHOICE!

I would consider the woman to be an elevated risk, why do you see her as harmless Chacal? Police protect themselves by looking for patterns of abnormality. A normal person follows the orders because they understand the situation. A frightened/confused person behaves differently than that women behaved. That women behaved in a way that said she refuses to follow the rules, doesn't recognize the authority of hte police. This is a sign that the person is going to put up a fight, maybe pull out a weapon. She was certainly calling someone else to the scene, potentially to bring more criminals into the fight. Giving the woman time to calm down would have made no difference, she wasn't freaking out, she was simply saying, 'NO'
She got what she deserved, why do you feel so bad for her Chacal?

Once again I must surrender to Tommy Boy, you are wise young Jedi. ...Sorry just saw Star Wars again.
Chacal, IMO your fears are justified as well. One over whelming factor that a society has is corruption of those in charge. Without checks and balances it can conquer even the best.
As members of a community, big or small we must respect others regardless. If that respect exists, then none of these problems would occur. Lady respects law, no speeding, no arrest. Cop respects duty no excessive force. Perfect world.
right?
