aiming/mouse sensitity

Postby sgtslaught42 » Fri Jun 17, 2005 2:48 pm

I found a guide on the Internet called "aimingbyraz.zip" and it seemed to have some good information in there. Has anyone else ever looked at this. Can anyone suggest where they may have gained the most benefit from what was in there. I've read through it and there is a ton of things to tweak, I'm going to try a few things, but wanted to get some feedback from the folks here. Based on what I've read the player "Raziel" was one of the better to play wolf. I'm kinda on a mission to try to get better.

Careful what you tweak. Most servers have cvar limitations and if you go over a limitation you'll get kicked for usually 2 minutes. I leave my mouse sensitivity at default. I use to play at around 1.5-2.5 before....it was good for having a better accuracy but it was always hard to turn around if someone was shooting you in the back. I remember one guy in {NNC} used 8.0 sensitivty and would spin around like crazy haha.

Well theres alot you can change to make things better...Try /r_picmip, /r_intensity, and /r_gamma, also try no show gun(cant see your weapon your holding), and no auto reload(dont automatically reload a clip after you empty it) very good for in gun fights and you run out of ammo, just switch to pistol and kill them while your ememy is reloading :P...sensitivity is alot of personal preference, iv used 2.5, 3.5, 5, and they all work pretty well, it just depends on your playing style. Like if you wanta lot of headshots and kills you want your sensitivity to be low but not so low that you are moving your mouse 1 foot to make a turn around the back stairs. Oh and use the dot cursor for your aimer, also the less clutter you have on the screen the easyier...like all of the info stuff...etc.

I used that .zip file for my education.

It's a pretty good thing to read. Just make sure you have your antivirus scanning it good, the file comes with a viral treat.

After reading it, I ended up not tweaking all too much, but that's cause I felt I didn't need to.

I just raised my r_intensity, and messed around with sensitivity a little bit. Beyond those I can't remember.

I like to keep a higher sensitivity. 1. I have a steady hand, usually. 2. I like to be able to flick my wrist and do a perfect 180, which is nice in combat situations.

Numberwise, My sensitivity has been anywhere from 1.5 to 10 on the same mouse. When I had it at ten was when I was really lazy. Hardly move my hand and make my turns. I'm in marching band and carry a fairly heavy instrument, it's understandable that I can control the shaking of my hand a bit.

Yah also not all numbers/sensitivities are the same for everyone...Most computers have different pre set mouse sensitivitys set in your control pannel, which over ride the wolf sensitivity. Or Magnify/ weaken it.

If you read it, it will tell you to turn off Game Mouse Acceleration, which in effect solves that problem.

I find those to take the difficulty out of killing. At least with a mauser.

Slaughter, what Raziel is trying, is to let you find exactly the right sensitivity of your mouse, to bring your aim to an extreme precision, etc. etc. (I think you all read that).
He also added a few programms to help you with that (mousefix.reg, mouserate.exe).
After you've done that, there are also a few small movies of him on a map called ctf_multidemo (and a few other films) you can view.
It shows you that if you 'tweaked' your mouse (and not the game, as many say here :P), you should be able (well, not able. You still have to be skilled ofcourse) to do these things.
I hope I cleared a few things up :)

As stated, adjust your video settings to make the enemy models easier to see against the background. You can't shoot them if you can't see them.

Lowering your mouse sensitivity makes it easier to shoot targets in front of you, but if you get into a close dogfight situation, it is easier to get mouse bound by an opponant.
