I can understand Lance Armstrong, Muhammad Ali, Sinatra.
I can't, it's a 200 year history and they are celebrities of little significance in the grand scheme. I guess it depends what criteria you set though.

Yeah you lot pestered us into giving them back. In retrospect that was a dumb fucking move as only 3 of our postwar colonies have a higher gdp now than they did under us. In addition probably a third of them have gone into civil war or dictatorship. The others with some exceptions have been nicely raped by economic colonialists who unlike us put nothing back in...
It would probably surprise you to know that in the last 50 years of the empire it was rarely if ever in any significant profit. You might have to rethink that as the only reason it existed...
The smart plan would have been to let us do a structured withdrawl making sure that they were ready for independence. Then again the smart plan in vietnam would have been to leave it the democratic government that established itself post WWII instead of flying the French over ther to reclaim their colony. Good job guys![]()
What, more whining!!!
I'll take your word there just being 3 colonies with a higher domestic product, but listening to you it sounds like the only reason for the difference is the British occupation. I would think that other factors need to be considered.
What is this last 50 years crap? Compared to how many years beforehand? Is that like saying buying Microsoft stock after it first came out was a bad decision because the price went down in the last year?
And a structured withdrawal? The only time a structured withdrawal was considered in the war as at the tail end, correct? At that point, after about seven years of fighting, it didn't much matter. The British did not have the best interests of the colonies in mind at any point, so this structured withdrawal was not a noble concession by the British by any means.
Any we fast forward about 200 years to get one last crack in about Vietnam.
England still lost the war. To Parrot:
