Thats why its a classic and thats why they remade it because it was so good. Imagine being alive when the original first came out, it wouldve seemed like the best thing youve ever seen. Of course the original will seem cheesy to today's standards because it was made so long ago. Damn youngin's aint got no respect!

I've seen both and have read the book. The newer one is a lot different but has the same basic idea. As with War of the Worlds I liked the original better. I dont know why but I always like the original better, or older versions of anything.

For war of the worlds the movies were about the same, except a few differences. I havent seen the original in a long time so I couldnt tell you exactly.

Jeez, THAT was a pathetic one. I laughed so hard at the "virus" crap at the end. And the cheezy president speech!

I didn't really like it. I didn't see the first one though..... so I dont know if I should blame what I didn't like on this movie or the original idea. Im always game for "apocalypse" movies....but I had high hopes for this one and it kind of didn't deliver, IMO.
I left my panties with B.J. Blaskowitz.

I would like to see hollywood come up with some new ideas instead of remaking every f-in movie that has ever come out.

Yeah and WTF is up with casting fucking marky mark in all the worst remakes, Planet of the Apes, The Italian Job. Bad casting and a bad idea, quite a pairing of inept film making...
