Aaaah WTF!!!!!!

ok, I need some help. I've been asking everyone what to do in this situation and no one has a sure answer that will work. In February I quit my job by just not showing up anymore. Now Im looking for a job and I have a burnt bridge in my past. In the interview I need to tell them that I worked there, but they will call them for a reference if I tell them I left on a good note. How can I tell them I didnt leave on a good note without hurting my chances of getting the job. Also if it helps one of my supervisors at my old job drank on the job, and would sometimes yell in my face haha....if that helps any. I need a sure fire way, and quick. I need money=job=car=college. Thanks, I know one of you brain childs will come up with something good.....like the dark lord

Is there any way you can skip the last job on your resume? If not, put down a coworker's name that you're still on good terms with as a reference instead of the manager. Have your reasoning something like that is the person who worked with you the most so they would have the best opinion of your work ethic

Or say you had to leave the country on a missionary position and it was so sudden that you had to choose that as a priority over the job you had.....lol

Never been in that situation, but my gut tells me you'll need to be up front in any interviews. Nothing you can do about how they take it, whether they believe your side or think otherwise, but if they ask for references, there's no way to avoid it. Better to be honest, then have them make the call, and then they'll definitely think you were the bad one in the relationship if you were deceitful to your new employer.

id either tell the truth or go with sirens plan..with the coworker your still on good terms with.. or you could make up an excuse that you were kidnapped by the taliban for several weeks and could not attend work? anyways...by the way im new to this forum...i used to kinda be on here...anyways my names nick whats up

its the only job experience I have so it will come up in the background check, and it will come up in an interview. Im gonna bite the bullet, redo the application and go with lordshards way hahaha. thanks guys.

I would hesitate before hiring someone who quit a previous job without giving notice.

I'd say don't put it in.

You're under no obligation to put every past job in your resume.

Do they have a right to do a background check on your private life? Seems doubtful.

a lot of employers never call your references. i was hired at two businesses within the last few months and neither of them called my reference (which happens to be one of my ex-coworkers that I'm friends with)

some do, some don't. for your sake, I hope they don't

You can't say that!! The obvious question they would have for you is why can't we call your former employer. Honestly (and I hate saying this), but you're better off getting a friend to pose as a co-worker and use him as a reference. If they do check with your former employer, you're going to get turned down for this new job. Give them no reason. You might even think about making up a bogus job on your resume and have some friends cover for you as reference. Dishonest - yes! But odds are that the company will not spend that much time investigating your credentials!!

just show up at the interview drunk. then they wont worry to much about the past employer......

Just kidding, up here in canada we dont have to put down everything, i was a male stripper for awhile but i wouldn't put that down.

what kind of job are you applying for, that may help us help you.
